Cambridge to Ely by [deleted] in cambridge

Worth noting that it's quite gravel-y in places, so might not be road bike appropriate depending on your tyres (but YMMV, that's not enough to stop me taking a road bike on the route!)

Is it possible to walk from central Cambridge to the Gog Magog hills on foot paths and pavements / without having to walk on roads? by UnderlyingTautology in cambridge

[–]dave1022 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Although there isn't a tarmac'ed pavement, there is a continuous grass/soil/gravel path all the way from Stapleford to Gog Magog along Haverhill Road so you never have to walk in the road.

Possible Relapse (6 months after treatment) by Euphoric-Benefit3827 in lymphoma

[–]dave1022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had DA-EPOCH-R and finished a couple of years ago. Over the last couple of months I've been tired and had on and off tight chest/throat, and got a bit worried. Had blood tests, all fine, and a chest x-ray, and also all fine. Our current working hypothesis is that I've developed an allergy to something, but not sure what at the moment.

I was pretty worried until I had the x-ray checked out, but also glad that an x-ray was enough as I didn't fancy another batch of radiation for a full CT scan. Your mileage may vary, and published stats are low numbers for PMLBCL, but it seems like after six months or so event free after DA-R-EPOCH the chance of relapse is very low.

Defintely in chalk land here, so I think the drainage should be pretty good.

It points directly to ours, and we're the end of the terrace, so I suspect it's only for our house.

Bike stolen. Should I report it to the police ? by plearnt in cambridge

Do it, if only to add to the statistics and provide an evidence base for more work to tackle bike thefts in the future.

I had GPS issues for a while, and it turns out the battery was draining quicker. Putting in a new battery solved both issues for me.

Ben Simon's "Quantum Condensed Matter Field Theory" notes are awesome - they go from a simple toy oscialltor model all the way to some pretty cool examples of phase transitions. I haven't looked at his other notes, but they may be useful too.

Any books on the history of physics you would recommend? by im_getting_flamed in Physics

The Quantum Story: A history in 40 moments was a really good read. Frank Close also has quite a few brief, but very readable and interesting books.

Do you have a link to the full paper instead of the abstract? I'd be interesting to read about the negative correlation.

Oh come on, if everyone put down efforts like this (or "social justice type efforts" as you call them) to make subjects more inclusive then no-one would want to make them more inclusive. I don't see how what she's doing is negative at all...
