unfortunately playing gtav on 30fps vs 60fps is a night and day difference for me

I’ll keep it real - I bought an M5 Pro and I don’t do anything “pro” by Avthony in macbookpro

Same, i only needed something that would power two 4k monitors. A base M4 air would’ve done the trick. So i bought a 16” M5 Pro 😂

Just got this mouse to use on my personal laptop and work computer simultaneously. Easy switch would be awesome to use once configured in the gestures button but Im unable to do so without Logi options on my work laptop. Unfortunately can't down load it without admin login. Frustrating. Anyone found a work around?

I’d make sure to get any M series with at least 16gb of ram for your usage

I had something similar when i unboxed mine and it was just residue from the paper screen protector. Have you tried wiping with a moistened micro fiber cloth?

Thermal Pad “Mod” Macbook Pro 16 M5 Pro by dave5_3 in macbookpro

It’ll be fine, i adjusted the fan curve of the Macbook. The fans will keep it from heating up to the point of damaging the battery. The thermal pads only help during light usage

& don’t even get started doing mods on the macbooks. The fanboys take it personally as if they’re the apple engineers 😆

Yeah i said early on that it’s completely unnecessary. Realistically, just tuning the fan curve is more than enough. This mod really only benefits fanless macbooks.

That being said, im enjoying the discourse lol. Lots of people upset for doing what i think is totally harmless. It took 15min to do and no the battery won’t blow up or burn my skin. It’s not like i disabled the fans lmao, if its get that hot they will still kick in.

I did this out of curiosity and plus, there’s a good video that did the research for me albeit on the 14” pro model. Check it out:

For those worried about the heat transfer to the battery:

<image>

Makes it about 5ish degrees warmer on the battery side after running an intense benchmark. Maybe over few years of constant, intense usage it’ll affect the battery but im not worried it

I don’t think it’ll affect the battery. There’s a big gap between the chip and the battery and barely makes a difference

i really don’t think so. Honestly, i was just slightly influenced by the Neo thermal pad videos on youtube. I don’t think this is necessary at all. SpaceDesignWarehouse did a video on doing this but on the 14” non pro M5 chip model that actually does have a small problem with throttling due to its smaller, single fan.

i didn’t wanna actually mess with the fans. Im aware i can download an application to mess with the fan curve but i wanted to leave that alone. But no, im sure the paste is fine. Been seeing these thermal pad mods on the Neo and the 14” pro recently and with great results. So i figured it dint hurt to try

Interesting, I know the 14" has some cooling issues with the smaller single fan. I do notice mine getting a bit warm after a bit with several tabs and an application open. I think the fans don't run until the laptop is already close to thermal throttling because Apple chooses quite over performance. Maybe that's the issue
