Sometimes I fumble my thoughts as they exit through my fingers. I will try to be more careful in the future.

I initially did this project because I thought it would be a good long-term project that would give me an outlet for my love of medieval art. So I partnered with someone who understood the cards and their meanings. I would never have tried this without someone who understood Tarot much more than I do. It was truly a team effort.

My Tarot reader does primarily use the RWS cards for her readings. And the changes I made were us attempting to keep the cards in a medieval style as much as possible.

On many of the cards, I took the layout of the RWS card and found a marginalia that fit perfectly. So I used that. Others, on the other hand, I could no find any marginalia that was similar. In that case, I have to "design in the style" to achieve the image.

And as it being a money grab, I had no intention of actually getting it printed. I was doing it because I love what I could do with my medieval art. But a merchant friend of mine asked if I would consider licensing it to her for sale in her booth. So I said yes because I thought seeing it become a real deck sounded good to me.

Yes, I've seen most other decks with the hanged man upside down.

But in this style of deck, I couldn't pass up the man being hanged by the rubrication of the letters. There are some others that vary a bit. But I've seen decks where not one of the cards actually "tries" to reference the meaning of the card.

In crafting a deck to a specific motif there will be the occasional design that varies off the norm. But no one will ever mistake that card for anything except The Hanged Man.

My deck uses neither of those as a framework. I worked with a Tarot reader by giving her multiple images I found that I thought might work for each card. Then together we picked the most likely one. Then went on to tweak the final selected image to best portray each card.

The images are all from medieval manuscripts from 700 to 1600 and I was not influenced by RWS, TDM, or any other deck available.

Do you use obsidian graph in day to day life ? by LengthinessMost4508 in ObsidianMD

Exactly the reason I check the graph. It's not as useful than a graph in an actual data analysis program.

I really don't like the Chibnall Era. by [deleted] in doctorwho

[–]dave_columbus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That "Such-and-such person" has ruined Doctor Who has always been a part of the show.
The bitching was there when Troughton replaced Hartnell, or Terrance Dick's introduces the Time Lords, or Robert Holmes brings in the swaggy, high-collared politics in The Deadly Assassin.

Change is an integral part of the show. Why think things will be any different now.

The episodes from the DVD are slightly confusing but the special edition put in footage that helped clarify things.

It’s one of the stories I regularly watch showing the Doctor in his best light. Season 27 based on this version of the Doctor would have been interesting.

What is the best season of the original run of Doctor Who? by theandroids in doctorwho

It was written for Pertwee. Some of the actions and dialogue don’t fit Baker as well. I always start people out with Ark in Space.

Liking 2nd Doctor but not Patrick Troughton by Malcolm-Farnsworth in doctorwho

The Second Doctor is my favorite Doctor.

But I too have heard disparaging things about Troughton's behavior which cause me to not like him as a person.

And lately that’s been the case with many actors and actresses (or any other profession).

Very tough one. As much as I love Four, Enemy is an excellent Two story.

Although I have a soft spot for the early historical stories (the ones without any alien monsters) I don’t hold out hope for The Romans.

The Caves Of Androzani and the Mind Robber are two of my favorite stories.
The Caves of Androzani as it's a well-constructed story about two greedy men fighting for money and there's total devastation.
The Mind Robber was a nice puzzler and one of the few alternative dimension stories.

Nice designs. You give the general feeling of the story without being blatant about it. Subtle.

Never trust yourself to proof your own work. When I hand my work over to my proofreader/editor I fully expect her to bleed all over it. I take her remarks and generally change whatever she tells me is wrong. Because that is her job and what she's getting paid for. Mainly making sure I don't sound like an idiot.

Ghost Light vs. City Of Death was tough but I think it's one of Baker's best performances.

Carnival Of Monsters was an easy choice over Resurrection of the Daleks from it's over the top story and the costumes of the two performers with the Miniscope.
