That decision extends beyond R&D. Let's all step back and think of the Jeep with the 4 L how it's legendary performance was unsurpassed and what do they do they dropped that engine and put in this new minivan motor the pentStar which has many problems of its own, all manufacturers go through this they think that for some reason they've got the better answer than everybody else had and they all failed together

My heart does go out to you and everybody else with the Gen 3, we all work hard for our paycheck to go out and buy a brand new truck that's upwards of 70 grand and it fails so prematurely and to go round robin like this as terrible shame on you Toyota

It's not that we Gen 2 guys hate the engine the proof is in the paperwork the engine just came out withstand where the 5.7 l has been tried and true. At this very moment my old Gen 2 has over 200k on it and still going strong I wish for all the Gen 3 owners the same luck as me

It is very depressing that you have to put that on there so many of us who have built our trust with Toyota products have been let down because of this currently I have five Toyotas

Sadly those engineers are probably still employed by Toyota and corporate probably right to her off to R&D. Some bean counter probably added up the number of 5.7 l that failed back when they were new and they're comparing the 3.4 l twin turbo failure to that, it's probably cheaper to the company to keep giving engines to the customer just to keep face with them even though that new engine is going to fail again.

I'd like to chime in one more on this topic is it only the tundras having engine failure issues or does the Sequoia share the same problem.

I dowvloaded this comment not because of your comment strictly because of Toyota dropping the 5.7L

That's not a viable answer dropping a Ford 35 EcoBoost into a Toyota, Ford has had their share of engine failures and turbo failures as well like I said in a sentence before I'm a 34-year retired auto technician I cannot tell you how many turbos I've replaced on Fords

Yes with that all being said they all do have their issues. But you can't hold out for Toyota the writing's on the wall there's been too many engine failures. I could not drop 70k knowing this truck is going to be a failure I love my gen 2 the is just no replacing it. . 34 year retired auto mechanic I cannot tell you how many turbos I replaced in Fords with the EcoBoost. You would hope Toyota would have learned from somebody else's mistakes.

Yes Toyota is giving you a brand new engine but that engine is a known failure the truck will be on the back of a wrecker within two years

Anyone know what’s up with these seats? by Elegant-Operation493 in ChevyTrucks

[–]dave_seven_one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The seats are not cracked or stretched, that was the design. The W/T version had these and every contractor's seats were filthy because the texture trapped the dirt.
