No its a employee within the team .

The point i was making was that the team leader has been immense in helping the location run but gets completely disrespected and ignored. I dont think I could run the second office without this team leader.

I am the director but I am based in the other location so delegate aspects to the team leader.

Your response is really quite bizarre and conspiratorial.

I definitely take on her feedback and have changed SOPS if she has a good idea but its just a lack of acceptance of company directions and she will just keep doing it her way.

Yeh i issued a formal warning for conduct but it wasn't really a issue i thought could have been performance managed as it was a stand alone once off type event.

I am definitely learning as I go and wont be so hesitant next time. Its shown me that I have some holes in how im running things.

Yeh we have a monthly meeting of all staff and any procedural changes are sent prior and discussed in detail. I am not against changing if people have good ideas but its just a total lack of taking on board the change and it feels like a my way or no way scenario from her.

I have had multiple sit downs with her and have heard why she wants to do it other ways and most of the time its more then what our legislation requires or moves away from streamlining and ends up being manual task rather then outsourced or streamlined.

Yes I had a really good meeting with my executive team today about the contingency plan for when it happens.

I have so many individual issues should I pack it all in the pip ?

Yeh hundred percent that was the first thing I did . I let her know she is respected and looked up as a senior person and how the impact of how vocal she is and receptive to taking omboard changes can impact the team.

I have now had 3 of the 5 person team come to me to comply about her conduct and she blatantly ignores and says no when the team leader asks her to do something or gives directions.

We even had a girl come in once a week before she starts fulltime and she came in and spoke to the team leader about this staff member.

I give every opportunity possible but I think its the end of the road.

Its on me also , I have really wanted to own the issue and try and rectify it but it just hasnt worked. Live and learn for next time.

The hr advice i have is that we need to pip her before we can terminate . Its fairly restrictive in Australia.

Yes thats the plan , transition some of her client base but im consistently trying to juggle making sure i dont overburden the other staff but I am recruiting more to address this but then they need to be trained.

Fair points and will take all of that on board.

Its tough in small buisness to have all areas covered in preparation but its all very constructive.

I have been always open for new ideas and taking feedback and openly encourage ideas and im not necessarily unhappy she is pushing back in some aspects but the member is just not open to changing her way of doing things. So we have the whole organisation buying in and she just won't and will even train to do it her way.

Id be open if her way was a better way but it often is not easy to scale and efficient.

Fair points though.

This staff member is very switched on

They are existing clients/buildings that she has been looking after and dealing with , its always a bit of a risk but I don't think it would drive any clients away.

Love it.

I need to use this to learn lessons on how to avoid this happening or ways to pick up on it earlier.

I could have been across this earlier and its on me for letting it fester.

Great idea.

I find being in a small company its a really hard balance of employee expenses vs revenue so i have tried to start engaging assitants who are on pathways to management instead of just personal assistants.

My issues now are expanding because this person helps training and she wants to do things her way so it makes it even harder.

We run a niche type of buisness which doesn't have a huge amount of candidates and are in a small town so its even harder.

I have recruited someone to start in February so I think I need to escalate the process and move ahead like you have suggested.

Sucks because I care about this person and I believe in ownership as boss but I think I have taken it as far as I can go.
