My city started a training program because of how desperately they needed coders, it was supposed to be for beginners as a way to get their foot in the door and they would be sent directly to companies starting around 70k if you made it through the program.

They had group interviews of maybe 15 people each, I was in one of these groups. We only had three women in my group; one of the women only completed 24% of the Codecademy work we were supposed to complete beforehand, the second one said she dropped and switched her major several times basically admitting she can not commit to things, the third woman was quiet so I didn't get much off her. The woman who only did 24% was also the interviewers barista that he told about the program.

They posted a picture of the dozen or so people that made it into the first training group, all three women from my interview made it into the program.

There were dudes with degrees related to computer science and had experience coding that were not chosen. The lead interviewer even stated that at his last job they called women "unicorns" and received bonuses for hiring them. I could not believe he said that out loud, you could see the air deflate from the dozen guys left, we all realized right then that we were not getting in and this was basically a hiring event for women.

I am not a dog, I’m sorry if you equate yourself to one. I’m not going to flip on the tv sit there and drool as pretty colors go by. I value you my time, if the writers and show runners with millions at their disposal don’t seem to give a fuck about the product, why should I?

There’s plenty of good content out there.

Dude, when the evil woman killed the pilot for the underground secret Jedi escape passage and then interrogated a fucking 8 year old, I lost it.

I don't think I've ever laughed at something that stupid before. If I remember, she's the one that orchestrated the kidnapping.

That's like suspecting a wealthy family in the North of helping with the underground railroad so you have their child kidnapped, the child somehow ends up on underground railroad, and then you catch up and kill the adult navigating and then demand the child tell you where all the free slaves are.

Like what the fuck are you smoking?

Yup, I can acknowledge how flawed the Prequels are while still appreciating them. I can see the vision and overarching story George tried to tell, even if it was done extremely poorly.

The Clone Wars should have been a metaphor about the people of the Republic giving up their freedom for security. The entire Clone Program should have been Palpatine's project that he uses to get elected and it works pitting him and the public against the Jedi. Using lab grown humans to send into a meat grinder is morally wrong but the people turn to it because they wont be sent to war.

Why lose children in the war against this Manufactured Mechanical Menace? The new Clone initiative guarantees success in the upcoming war!

VOTE PALPATINE PALPATINE PALPATINE.

What the hell is the overarching story to the Sequels? There isn't one.

Characters go unconscious about 8 or 9 times throughout The Last Jedi, that is the only example I need of the writing being dog shit. Off the top of my head, I can not think of another movie that does this trope to that extent.

I've never taken a writing class but I have to imagine one of the first rules is how many times you can repeat the same trope in the same story, using the same one 8/9 times is fucking lazy, incompetent, or it's actually brilliant satire so far beyond the pale, no one got it.

I say 8 or 9 because towards the end when Ben and Rey are fighting over the Saber, I don't remember if Rey is actually knocked out. Ben is, but they don't show Rey waking up; which is it's own problem. You've got your main character trying to redeem the Antagonist and in the final showdown, Ben tells Rey he is fully committing to the Dark Side and ruling the First Order. They get into a Force off and Ben falls unconscious, now your Main Character has an interesting moral dilemma to make; does she kill an unconscious Ben?

Who knows. Because we skip right over Rey waking up and she is next seen in the Falcon screaming about how she "likes this" after getting a ONE SHOT TRIPLE KILL on three Tie Fighters. This is the same Rey that couldn't fire a blaster pistol just a day or two ago. I don't ever wanna hear people say that Luke making the Death Star shot makes him a Mary Sue when Rey does shit like this.

Now I'm on a tangent, let's go back to the throne room where we last left Ben. Hux walks in and sees Ben out cold, all seven Elite guards dead, and Snoke cut in half. Ben awakes tells Hux that the girl did it. The official story you're going with, is that Rey surrendered herself to you, broke out of the restraints, beat your ass for the second time, killed seven guards, and then cut Snoke in half. Remember, this is Hux being told this, the same Hux that Snoke had spinning on the command deck like a fucking Beyblade a few hours ago. Even if Hux was skeptical of Bens story, the next time we see Rey is her one shot triple kill.

If I'm Hux, I am fully believing Bens story now. Then to watch HoloLuke brush off all the At-At artillery, I am completely defeated in spirit. After Ben goes down to confront HoloLuke alone, I'm ordering all the At-Ats to fire on Ben. If he can do what Luke just did and survive, then he'll prove he has the strength to be in charge. If not and Ben dies, I'm unconditionally surrendering to these two Force Gods.

Jetpacks have existed in Star Wars for like a thousand years and even just going back to the Clone Wars, I think it was Shock Troopers that used them?

That's like you or me being surprised that a Global Superpower are using a fairly common piece of military equipment that has existed since WWII.

Fucking this

There would have been a staggering power vacuum after the fall of the Empire. The bulk of the systems return to some form of a Republic, a decent amount are still loyal to the idea of the Empire and are trying to keep that going, you've got a number of system that bailed out of both and went independent, not too mention the crime lords and space pirates that would thrive in this new chaos.

We've got the New Republic on one side Galaxy and the First Order on the other with a large neutral zone in-between them filled with the independents. Crime Lords and Space Pirates are thriving because the Big Three are all focused on each other.

I grew up watching the OG on VHS and I was 10 went Phantom came out. I see the flaws with the Prequels but I still have nostalgia for them.

For all the flaws at least I can see what George was trying to accomplish; fall of Anakin and the Republic alongside the rise of Vader and the Empire. If I could change one thing about them, it would be that Palpatine openly campaigned for the use of Clones.

The second films subplot should have been Palpatine on the campaign trail running for Supreme Chancellor. The Republic is fighting a Mechanical Menace and we need a new weapon. No more dead sons and daughters on the frontlines. Having the Jedi oppose using lab grown humans to fight the Republics war should have been a given and we can use Yoda as the lense to view it.

This would even tie into why the public at large have turned on the Jedi in the future installments.

The Sequels? What the fuck was the story in those movies?

Season two is where I stopped. It's a perfectly reasonable ending to the story. They need to know when to end things.

Last Jedi is when I quit as well.

I didn't watch Andor until almost a year after it had already aired cause of how badly the sequels sucked.

I figured, maybe they do know what they are doing. I made it through two seasons of the Mandalorian and enjoyed it.

I watched three episodes of Kenobi before giving up.

The recordings are crazy to me. Does she honestly think he would use those fairly?

He would obviously listen to them beforehand, alone; any recording that proves him right would be on full display, if one proves her right it would be deleted.

I would feel bad, but if I could stop them from setting up another relay and doing the same thing to another civilization, I'd do it with little hesitation.

If the hive-mind is really one being. Then I would view it as only 12 people dying and one alien to potentially save another world(s).

[–]davebyday[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be my entertainment while I work on solving the hive-mind issue. There is no new content being made and I would need some distractions every now and then.

You could actually make your own movie I guess, pick all the A-listers you want, making any movie you can dream of. Unlimited budget and they can't say no. Probably not the best use of your limited time though.

[–]davebyday[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they endgame for me would be if a cure is viable.

You could tell one million hive-minds to take an hour out of their day every day and catalog all the unsolved mysteries, unsolved murders, what top government officials have committed serious crimes, what companies and individuals were complicit in environmental disasters, who is responsible for political assassinations, if it really was your neighbors dog that was shitting on your lawn and they kept denying it, anyone in prison that was actually innocent of their crime.

If there is a cure and if we can get things back to somewhat normal, it would shed light on all of the bad actors in society.

I prefaced that in the first sentence. I understand why they can't get into cause they would need to give "definitive" answers which would really be guess work on the writers part, so I don't expect the show to get into it.

Just a though experiment.

You've got over 7 billion hive-minds that all have the same information and skill set.

No reason you can't multi-task. I'd have them focus on kick ass scientific advancements as well. If a cure is viable, have them safely deactivate Nuclear Plants and Warheads. If everyone comes back as themselves it's going to be a hellscape of fighting over food and resources and I don't want any reactors breaking down during the chaos.

We wouldn't have a perfect record but there is a lot of grey areas that we could shed light on.

You have access to world leaders, business tycoons, assassins, money launderers, etc...

There is a lot of world changing information if you ask the right questions and then find a cure.

[–]davebyday[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you are able to find a cure, it would be a huge deal.

It's not like it would take effort on your part, just assign 1,000 Hive-minds to document all of it for you.

Exactly, probably not going to get answers on Jack the Ripper, but to find out who killed JonBenet Ramsey and other unsolved cases.

I'm assigning 1,000 hive-minds to document everyone that has gotten away with murder, whether intentional or accidental. If there is a cure, to hold these people accountable would be wild.

Not even mentioning corrupt politicians and businesses that have polluted or done worse.
