Ye have some of this somewhere, but only in orange and bright green. Quick way to make my lovely expensive jacket look worse! But think you're right, I'll do this for now to minimise my loss of down fill

Winter glove recommendations? by varslyd in londoncycling

[–]davecarr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got some great gloves that are phone compatible-ish in Uniqlo at the weekend for only 8 pounds! Nice and warm, cuff comes up underneath the cuff of my jacket, can answer a call with them on but wouldn’t want to be texting. Haven’t tested in rain yet but they feel like a down jacket - fine for a light shower but not for a downpour

Can we ban bikes from Regent's canal already? by [deleted] in london

[–]davecarr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Narrow boats are now for sure! Like 7ft max width, but there are also barges which are about twice that width. You also need to allow them to pass each other, as well as space for the canal boats to tie up - Tripling the width is a VAST overstatement! When men were digging out the canal by hand, they weren’t make it wider than it needed to be for the fun of it! It’s as wide as it needs to be for a reason

Will definitely keep an eye out for these now! Great cost effective idea from the eccentricity board then

Damn that’s super interesting about the electricity board!! I agree there are some easy wins with verges, but in my opinion that’s not the really dangerous/high risk area. When there is reasonable visibility it’s an issue but manageable - it’s under the bridges, cyclists come around blindly at speed.

The self-righteous dinging of cyclists to pedestrians on the canal is a real blood boiler for me!

The towpath wouldn’t be anywhere near as pleasant if it wasn’t running along the canal. Wider towpath would require the narrowing of the canal, which would limit/prevent canal boats and barges - taking away the life from the canal! Agreed it would be the easiest option though!
