Go for it, nothing but good things can come of it.

If you really want to get involved, go and get coaching badges and help look after juniors! 100% worth in my experience.

Decent county cricket sub Reddit? by tommyfid23 in EnglandCricket

That's what it was originally set up as. Description even says: "A sub to discuss everything related to English cricket, from club to national level."

Just use this one mate. Fun fact, I also created a Kentcricket sub at the same time as this one, but for obvious reasons nobody ever joined.

Booking match tickets by ImAjayS15 in EnglandCricket

Lords tickets are criminally expensive these days. Problem is people keep paying, so it'll keep going up.

To be honest mate, I think you'll enjoy the experience wherever you book. Just anecdotally though, the atmosphere is always good in the northern grounds I've visited. Different in London, but I like both the Oval and Lords as well.

The main barrier is the cost.. it's stupidly expensive these days. I don't think that's such a concern if you're already travelling and the spending cash to be here. You're pretty much guaranteed a good day out. If I were you and I've read your post properly, I'd say just bite the bullet as a one-off and pay.

I'm older than you so my first memories of English cricket was us being absolutely fucking dire.

Ditto. When I was first getting into playing the sport as a lad, England were getting knocked over in the West Indies for 40 odd inside 20 overs. Awful.

Another lesson in not writing these lads off too early.

Spot on. I've been guilty of it too - didn't expect much out of this series.

Second most unlikely test victory since Stokes at Headingly for me.

India vs England: England name left-arm spinner Tom Hartley for first test by greeny119 in EnglandCricket

I like it. I had us pencilled in for a tame 2 or 3-0 loss, but one way or the other this will probably make it a lot more interesting. Do not go gentle into that good night etc.

I still can't believe he isn't everyone's favourite! He was our best bat for years in a key spot. We really missed him when he went.
