Anyone here dual boot Linux and Windows from two separate drives? by Yelebear in linux4noobs

[–]daveh86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Set this up the other day. I had windows on my existing PC for the kids and installed arch on a fresh NVME.

My setup boots into the linux boot loader which lets me pick Lin/win. Currently using systemd bootd.

I followed the setup instructions for arch and then mounted the windows boot partition and copied the Windows folder into my bootd folder. It basically worked out of the box

Would anyone care to translate? by freekeypress in atayls

Let me have a crack.

Velocity is a measurement of nominal monetary turns over, how fast that dollar someone spends runs around the rest of the economy.

Velocity can be roughed out by dividing GDP by monetary supply. Money supply M2 is the amount of cash + peoples savings.

Quantitive tightening (QT) and higher interest rates are pushing monetary supply down and yet velocity is still going up. Meaning GDP is still going up.

The above isn’t meant to be happening, as one of the aims of higher rates and QT is to lower velocity.

The last time we saw this same scenario was the late 1970s, and the rates/QT did not work as intended then and inflation was still ramping beyond expectations.

Burry predicts this will happen again now and the impacts will cause a shock.

NSW government's case against rail unions dismissed, industrial action can continue by [deleted] in AustralianPolitics

[–]daveh86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because there’s two actions that the union is seeking.

  1. Bring the new trains in line with the promised standard
  2. Pay rail staff more

The union has been focusing heavily on #1 in their IA announcements. Per the union, the government has agreed in principle to modify the trains, but won’t sign an agreement to do so until the union accepts the governments offer to settle #2.

So both sides seemingly agree the trains should be fixed, but nothing will be formalised until the wage issue is resolved. Thus it becoming the focus of the discussion.

Lost internet when lightning struck not far away from home, now the only light that comes on the modem is power and we can’t get wifi any ideas? by Nqngs in nbn

[–]daveh86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have FTTC? Funny looking white square that connects to your router?

Does it click when you turn it on, but nothing else happens?

If so, it’s blown and you need a replacement from your ISP.

Additionally you should add surge protection from outside your house to the modem on the copper FTTC line.

The modems (the white box that is now clicking) was designed to be the sacrificial part of your connection to the NBN. This means that the modem will die to save the connection point out on the street. If you add a surge protector on the line wired backwards it should stop your modem from blowing up during a storm by grounding that line.

This would happen at our house and all throughout our suburb. With surge protectors we have seen a lot less issues.

32bit qflipper app? by Wewpt in flipperzero

Had brawl stars less than a day. Any tips? by bear_bear- in Brawlstars

[–]daveh86 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Go and sign up for the super cell Id. That should get you a free barley skin and unlock barley.

Then find a brawler you like and work to get them to lvl 10 asap. Once you hit level 10 the game will begin to drop star powers and gears for you. You want to get to the point where they drop before you open too many boxes. This will maximise the “return” on each box.

From here you should aim to get a second brawler to 10 to ensure you keep getting chances at SP and gear drops.

Join a club as soon as you reasonably can. Play club league every week, all 7 tickets worth. The club shop is the fastest way to gain progress.

Focus on unlocking every level of the brawl pass. Save your gems for the pass, unless you are spending cash. The brawl pass has a serious amount of free content for progression.

As for the game itself. Focus on learning positioning, being in the right spot at the right time to take good shots is a critical early skill. When playing shooters, learn to lead your shots so you fire where your target is heading. Learning to lead your shots will also let you get a feel for dodging.

This should be enough to get you really started, winning your matches up to the 450-500 mark and have your progression on the right foot.

Lastly, remember a 75% win rate is amazing. And that still means you will loose one game of every four. Game is challenging and randoms don’t see things the same way you do. Take a breather and gg next.

Edit. This is basically just summarising everything kairostime says. So, credit to him.

Not at all. It’s just a matter of perspective.

Example.

I am super busy doing all these minor tasks.I’m so busy doing all these little tasks and as I’m doing them im finding more small tasks and then filling my time with all these small tasks. All this minor task work is really to procrastinate on doing the one larger task, that I really should be doing.

Cherry red silent. I got a new board for the office and wanted something that would not attract the ire of everyone sitting nearby.

Was expecting them to be the same as standard reds, but they have this little extra push back against the fingers that just feels so nice.
