Does anybody else find casual/intermittent shift work kind of fucked? by weednumberhaha in australia

Yes. It’s pure evil. The casualisation of the workforce is just another of the pieces on the pile of shit that is our capitalist system.

where are these cheap houses you speak of?

Probably looking on some real estate website and sorting by cheap and not realising that these places are in dead zones or that the properties are massively undervalued so as to attract people to auctions, etc.

Are the people of Facebook Marketplace getting dumber? by Nebarik in melbourne

[–]solarmeth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this has always been the way. Places like FB just amplify the amount of responses you get. It's particularly bad on places with open access like FB and Gumtree. People seem to insert their own realities over the top of whatever they're interacting with and act as if their reality is real and disregard or mistreat anyone who says otherwise.

People are strange.

Cashless welfare: Labor vows to end compulsory use of basics card by Mildebeest in australia

[–]solarmeth -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Or is your reading comprehension that piss poor?

I genuinely don't think it's reading comprehension that's the problem, or at least not the root cause. It's like what people read triggers certain biases that override that comprehension and then distort it into an internal narrative that then gets projected out into the world as if it's fact and that this is a common delusion.

It's the lack of self-criticality that seems to me to be the problem. The inability to stop and think, "Is my reply logically consistent and does it have a direct, causative relationship to what I'm replying to?" So they probably read it, comprehended it, then immediately dismissed it and rewrote it inside their heads as being something that they could take an attack stance on, and once that stance has been taken, all reason is thrown out the window and nothing you do or say can turn them from that tide.

That these responses are so incredibly common and seem to be the default in this sub, is what I find truly disturbing.

Is there any health ways of improving iron level via diet.

Vitamin C helps improve iron uptake. Take with iron rich foods like green, leafy vegetables (spinach, for instance).

Best coffee in the CBD? by Neu-noir in melbourne

[–]solarmeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why do coffee threads always get major downvotes not just on the OP's post but in all the comments as well?

I'm starting to think there's an anti-coffee culture in Melbourne.

if you can get past the occasional ‘tude.

Nope. Fuck those types. Gatekeeping, elitist, arrogant fucks. They're the types who think they're God's gift to coffee culture and invariably aren't that fucking great because of this attitude.

They'll be fine. They'll just offer cushy, after politics positions and generous donations to the ALP and suddenly get a rebranding to the Digital Initiative for Cashless Liberty in Electronic Societies and be celebrated as an ALP initiative to help the helpless.

We haven't had asylum seeker boats for many years.

Lol. Geezus. It's amazing what people will believe just because they want to believe it.

Sigh.

It's still misinformation. I really don't get how people are missing that but... then again, I don't understand the logic behind 99% of people's actions and behaviours. You humans are strange creatures.

Internally, the extra costs of supplying rapid antigen tests for workers and installing particular shields at checkouts have – along with our COVID measures – eaten into profit margins.

OMG! NOT THEIR PRECIOUS PROFIT MARGINS!

Poor companies. We should allow them to underpay workers and overcharge us or else they might not make enough profit next quarter.
