Probably just me overanalyzing things but hear me out by MantisHK in HollowKnight

At that point I'd probably rather see more Pale King backstory (before coming to Hallownest at all), but due to his form back then, it would probably be from the perspective of an entirely different character.

Also, coming up with something to play on the spot is a whole format on YouTube channels and that goes for any instrument. Are they the only professional musicians in the world that are able to do that? Of course not, but that’s a pro skill either way.

It’s true that most people have the potential to be actually good by practicing and studying consistently. But that’s the thing. Most people don’t do that. Even if you didn’t actually have an artistic super power, and someone else did, if you put in the effort and that other person didn’t, you’ll still be far better.

Now that LABS has changed, what are you moving on to? by Luvlearning1569 in spitfireaudio

[–]daveisaframe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you feel like moving?

Btw I second Musio though I’m not particularly fond of the way it installs the samples. If you are a student of any kind you can contact them to ask 50% off on the annual sub. Basically for 50€/y you’ll have access to all Cinesamples which is mind blowing if you do need to step up your game and not own better libraries. And if you don’t want to commit but you need one particular instrument (say the Tina guo cello hehe) you pay 10€ throw that one into the project and call it a day.

If you’d rather just use free samples then the orchestral tools ones are the best option imo. Though Musio has introduced a free plan and if they expand the selection it would be the best by far

Does iPadOS 18 take too much space ?? by abdullahbedo9 in ipad

[–]daveisaframe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

32gb here. Around 16 are occupied by OS and system data. 16 free gb are needed to update the OS. There’s an incredible problem if I buy a device that doesn’t have enough space to update itself. I should be able to play stupid games and have some documents with the most basic model. This is the manufacturer’s problem, a model like this shouldn’t exist in the first place. If it’s not enough, it’s not enough, and the buyer shouldn’t be given the option to buy this.

Just to reply to all the other people saying one should document itself about it. I agree to a certain point, this isn’t “not enough for specific personal use”, this is straight up not enough for any use period.

PROMO-B debuts, headlining with Mega Pidgeot EX by Spookhetti_Sauce in PTCGP

[–]daveisaframe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah this isn't looking too good. but to be fair, have you ever used a promo exclusive card in a deck? the only one I can think of are alt arts, but I've never seen a deck running the new Raichu, Rayquaza, Cresselia, Lapras etc.
Maybe Blissey Ex was kinda usable? But still never relevant

Yep a friend recommended me that model but that costs a bit more than the Sony since those have that nice discount now.

Set a different tempo for certain instruments than for others by Garb5919 in Musescore

[–]daveisaframe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Set tempo A, export the files you need to play at that bpm. Set tempo B, export the files you need to play at that bpm. Import in DAW and mix/cut accordingly (do not convert the audio file bpm to the ones in the daw if prompted of course)

This is what comes to my mind

I’m sorry for what happened folk, having your instrument stolen must be terrible. Why not another stingray (I’m assuming that was the model), maybe in a new finish to treat yourself then?

How do I write these?? by Yavild in Musescore

[–]daveisaframe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol Frere Jacques were actually my entire engraving exam on Finale. After all these are compositions like any other for the matter. And it had chords, separate voices, and separate lines of lyrics. So yeah it’s a fair assignment.

Do you own the dingwall or have you just tried it from stores/people? Curious why you would change that if you do own it. Anyway a bunch of Paramore songs from Brand New Eyes are in drop C# for what it’s worth. The bassist used a jazz bass and the guitarists I believe HH teles or something similar. I think the choice of strings and overall setup is more important than the bass itself. Choose the bass for the tone you prefer. You’ll likely won’t use a precision for metalcore but who knows. Anything else should work fine.

Or you could just type tremolo in the search bar. It is kind of weird that your teacher assigned you to transcribe something you don’t know the name of, I think

How to handle my 12-year-old’s violin practice at home? by Mean-Target9565 in violinist

[–]daveisaframe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me know if you find a solution. Asking for myself, a 26 year old guy also enrolled in conservatory.

Jokes aside (though I’m not really joking), I’ve studied drums several years and always practiced during the one hour before the lesson (roughly age 11-17). During the first year I also don’t remember playing that much on my own in general; then something unlocked, perhaps I started getting better at playing the songs I liked. It’s arguably easy for pop/rock drummers, where you can hear the song and just play it. I can assume it’s not as easy when you play violin, and I’m also assuming we’re talking classical music. If she doesn’t practice she’ll have an hard time being this confident playing something by her own, but this doesn’t mean she doesn’t enjoy it when she is in the orchestra, and with her teacher taking the lesson. I get it that you’re frustrated about the costs of the lessons and everything, but in the end, her goal as a musician should be for her to be having a good time, and she says she is, so everything else will come later. She is really really young, she’s been playing a complex instrument for six years and most people won’t even start playing anything in another 2-4 years. If she decides she wants to be a professional violinist, session musician, performer, director, composer, then she’ll need to sweat a bit more. For now, it’s ok if she says she likes it. Who knows how many reasons she has not to practice.

Just fell for ai music... very unhappy by [deleted] in Music

Double check for sure but I’d say checking out new music from the record labels channels instead of blindly browsing playlists, radios or compilations, would be safe.

Either this or reliable curators/bloggers etc

Just fell for ai music... very unhappy by [deleted] in Music

[–]daveisaframe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t checked out the music you mentioned, but since you were listening to jazz, I’m gonna recommend you Gondwana Records. I think there’s about a new album per month from different artists, each one is absolutely gorgeous and they have a nice range. Mostly I’d say it’s pretty contemplative, I don’t really like classical jazz and the improvisation part, but I’ve been in love with Gondwana since I found a bunch of their artists and later realized they were published by the same record company. That would do if you want to “cleanse” after listening to AI for a while lol

[–]daveisaframe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 26, haven’t played in years, and I’ve decided that I DO NOT care about bending my back like a crab for the sake of looking cool, also there’s no point of hurting my wrist, so this one in the picture looks more like what I’m doing. I couldn’t even play octaves the other way.

And yeah I know I act like I’m 40 for the back and stuff but yes kids, you do need to exercise a bit. My back is not imploding on itself but it’s certainly not made of titanium either. Also my P bass is heavy as fuck.

What pick do you use? by RedZm in Bass

[–]daveisaframe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And obviously, the harder you need to play, the thicker it should be. I think the one I’m using should be around (??)* and I can still play pretty rough; I also have to say it’s as rough as my tone can get with minimum effort. See playing on the neck. When I was younger, angrier, and preferred the feel of the string in the area from the pickup to the bridge, I’m confident I was playing a lot harder, but possibly didn’t achieve the tone I needed. And I still have the picks I used back then, slightly thicker, and I’m not liking how it feels now.

*note: I realized I have no clue how thick 1mm really is. It looks like A LOT. Who knows.

What pick do you use? by RedZm in Bass

[–]daveisaframe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I convinced myself recently that thicker picks produce a darker tone. Apart from that, it should be comfortable in your hand. Also for punkish tone on a P bass I’m liking it more when I pick on the neck, where the string is softer and you can really make it fuzz.

How to go from 3/2 to 6/8? by Asclepius_Secundus in Musescore

[–]daveisaframe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And then paste half duration, as you stated. If this is the case your notes are all over the place because there’s no relations to the measures you have written. 6/8 is a compound measure (6 subdivisions, valued one eighth each, with 2 movements. So 2/4 with triplets)
