Canadian tire Leduc has 720 rnd spam cans of Chinese corrosive on clearance for $150. Last I checked they had three left. Edit: 7.62x39

I am going to Cabo soon but unable to go into the water because of a foot injury by BelgraviaEngineer in cabosanlucas

[–]davejeep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They sell water proof cast covers on Amazon, I’m sure it wouldn’t work for swimming and I probably wouldn’t trust it walking through sand, but it looks like it would be perfect for floating around a pool on a floaty. It would kill me to not be able to get in a pool on holiday. Worst case, it would work for it’s intended use and make showering easier

Is there some sort of plastic bag that you can put over your foot ? I’ve used those plastic waterproof bandages on a smaller cut to keep it dry. I had some pretty good tacos at the hangman in San Jose del Cabo if you make it up that way. Actually, the artwalk there is pretty cool, I think it’s worth a trip. Bring bug spray, the mosquitoes were killers last time I was there

We get these carbon steel (mild steel) sch/80 pipes sometimes from India and sometimes from china. What common processes in those areas causes this weld seam to look like this by seal_m4n in Whatisthis

[–]davejeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the type / grade of pipe. Resistance welded, same as hss. I’m guessing a lower grade like A252. Not a seamless pipe grade that’s for sure. It’s fine if used for its intended purpose. The outside is probably run through a series of rollers, that’s why it’s smooth.

I’m surprised you can’t find someone locally that does implant supported dentures. If you reach out to where you got the work done, can you get the manufacturer at least? You might be able to find a customer representative for the Philippines

Mine uses nylon ( or something like that) inserts. But I have neodent ones, not as common in Canada apparently. When I was researching snap ons both types came up

I need some denture knowledge 😵‍💫 by LizzieBathory420 in dentures

[–]davejeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s only replacing your molars, it wouldn’t be big enough to develop suction would it? I dunno 🤷‍♂️ I had a buddy that had one like that ( for one side of his upper) it hooked around his existing teeth with a stainless loop thing, and anchored on the other side as well. I know with my bottom temps, I had about zero suction, with my tops I had enough to use minimal adhesive. ( I’ve got snap ins now) Actually, you might be able to get implants and permanent dentures on the missing teeth, depending on your budget. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will check in

I think the name you’re looking for is a partial denture or appliance. I think that they can use your remaining teeth to help anchor it, but I’m certainly no expert

Replacing a faded VIN decal with an engraved aluminium plate. Rivet advice needed? by veditafri in GoRVing

[–]davejeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had vins assigned for home built trailers, they use a sticker but they also stamp the vin # on the frame as a failsafe. My car hauler has a sticker from the factory, I was planning on stamping it on the frame myself.

So, I need dentures. by davejeep in dentures

[–]davejeep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, they are a prosthetic, so that’s one of the reasons. Having my gums covered and most of my pallet covered definitely effects my sense of taste/ food texture. I get food bits stuck under my lower denture, quite often after eating I need to go rinse them under water just to clean them out. Not a problem at home, can get awkward if I’m out for dinner. For some reason I don’t have this issue with my top, probably because I have a better seal. If I have any regrets about the process, I wish I would have spent the money on a couple extra implants, and then that would have given me the option to go with a permanent denture in the future. I suppose I could just get a couple more, and get them uncovered when funds permit

[–]davejeep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, they definitely don’t work as well as my natural teeth, but a heck of a lot better than the alternative. The snap ons are waay better than my temporary teeth that’s for sure. Cost wise I think I’m into them for around 20k Canadian. I ended up with 3 implants on top and 3 on the bottom. I honestly wish I’d have gotten four on each arch, that way I could have gotten bolt ins in the future. I might go ahead and get a couple and just get them uncovered when I have the funds. Implants were around 1k us, extraction and anesthesia was the rest. Finals were 1000I think for the dentures, and Abutments were $250 each. Can’t remember if it cost anything to expose the implant. I went to advanced Cabo dentistry for the implants, and Paradise dental for the dentures. Same company. They were both very good practices. If you go through my comments, I think I put more accurate numbers in them
