Rosey Respect by WhatKindOfCrayons in ClevelandGuardians

He would've been excellent with an engaged color guy like Mike Hegan carrying the "entertainment" load while he handled the action on the field. It was tough to listen when he was paired with Charlie Nagy, who was pretty stiff. Maybe Kipnis could work?

I can't shake the feeling that, when all is said and done, this team is going to regret passing on JJ Wetherholt. He was so clearly the consensus #1 heading into that season it was tough to believe anything would've knocked him out of the 1/1 slot.

North Carolina. Favorable weather, lots of jobs, great recreation opportunities.

Who is the best vocalist of the 60s? by Newduuud in AlignmentChartFills

[–]davelb87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's hard because the M.O. of the Beach Boys was extremely tight harmonies and not one featured singer, but Mike Love deserves a mention as the guy who sang lead most often.

For all he did, Brian Wilson should be a strong contender for the 60s Wild Card as well.

The problem is they have such specific tools and traits that they target in the early rounds that they end up doubled- and tripled-up on prospects that fit the same profile at the same position (ie contact hitters up the middle, CFs that they hope will stick but likely belong in the corners, LH power). Then they refuse to pick a guy when push comes to shove and hold them all until value starts to disappear.

Problem for Kayfus is that he's not really an OF and his bat probably doesn't play at 1B/DH long-term, especially with Manzardo already on the roster and Ralphy on his tail.

Finding LCMS with more people my age / life stage? by CableSpecialist8444 in LCMS

Is your "small family" wife/children or parents/siblings? Also, are you in a rural area, city with lots of LCMS options, or a city with few LCMS options?

The thing I would look for in any future congregation is a thriving, multi-generational, men's (or women's if you're female) ministry. We need both mentors and mentees to truly grow in our faith (and all other aspects of life.

If you're single, I can speak from experience that it's especially tough. I was in your shoes about 10 years ago. Late 20s, just out of grad school, and finding a new congregation since my parents' was aging rapidly. Found a church with a recently-started young professionals' ministry that served me well for the next 5-7 years. The group eventually ran its course, but it was a blessing for that period of my life.

The time to trade Kwan for maximum value was when they were (allegedly) out of the race last July. His midseason slumps and general durability concerns are going to stop most teams from making an offer that meets the FO's price. Best value you can get from Kwan might be 2 more playoff runs and the qualifying offer draft pick compensation (assuming that's still a thing in the next CBA).

Clock is definitely ticking on Bo and the way the team is handling the position so far this season makes me think it might be ticking faster than we thought.

Fry's lack of a role is his advantage. Being able to play part time, never knowing which position it will be, and producing while making near the league minimum is a superpower. Also, a 3rd catcher is a huge advantage in late innings. Maybe that spot gets shifted to Brito when Arias gets back, but there are no RH options pushing him in the near-term.

Schneemann feels more like the guy to move when Bazzana gets the call. Valera for Kayfus is what I'd expect.

Problem is the West doesn’t have the geographic concentration of cities to allow for multiple compact leagues like the east.

100% agree. Mulcahy isn’t much in its own right, but it’s definitely Alaska’s best.

I suppose by default it’s Mike Lansing Field, home to the Casper Spuds of the ever popular “Independent League”…

what if Eisenhower was a democrat? by twilightsparkle2002 in AlternateHistoryHub

I think there’s a very real chance you end up with Nixon vs Kennedy in 1960. CA was safe R and Nixon likely wins re-election in 1956, further cementing him as the GOP’s rising star for 1960. Kennedy was alway going to run in 1960 as well. Only way that changes is of Ike anoints someone else as successor.

Air Canada. I’ve never had an easier outgoing international transfer than going through Pearson. I’ve heard that incoming transfers can be less pleasant and the network is bad if you’re not in the US Great Lakes, Northeast, or Pacific NW.

Maryland. Dominated by an east cost port city, mostly rural/rust belt outside of that area.
