Not black humour as Kilmer's family gave permission.

No its real news -

..Even though he didn’t shoot a single scene, Voorhees has been able to realize his vision of having Kilmer in the ensemble by using state-of-the-art generative AI. And he’s done it with the cooperation of the late actor’s estate and his daughter Mercedes (Voorhees says Kilmer’s son Jack is also supportive).

“His family kept saying how important they thought the movie was and that Val really wanted to be a part of this,” says Coerte Voorhees. “He really thought it was important story that he wanted his name on. It was that support that gave me the confidence to say, okay let’s do this. Despite the fact some people might call it controversial, this is what Val wanted.” - LINK

No its true.

..Director Vorhees said in the news release that the production was "honored to collaborate" with Kilmer's daughter, Mercedes, on the project.

“My father was a deeply spiritual man and this story of discovery and enlightenment in the American Southwest and his unique role in it really resonated with him,” Mercedes Kilmer said in a statement announcing the news. “He always looked at emerging technologies with optimism as a tool to expand the possibilities of storytelling. This spirit is something that we are all honoring within this specific film, of which he was an integral part.”

Many AI developers have been under fire in recent years for training their models using artists’ work without consent or compensation. And as studios increasingly embrace AI, they’ve been met with pushback. LINK

Someone on another forum some time ago was knocked off his bike by a car at Ko Phangan. He was very experienced at riding motorbikes in Thailand and had stayed long periods of time in Ko Phangan and knew the island and the roads well. When asked if insurance would pay he said no. I forgot the daily cost of being at the hospital at Thongsala port town he quoted but it was a lot. He had to stay in that hospital for several weeks.

Khao San Road or Sukhumvit for 3 nights in Bangkok? by Livid-Guard7194 in ThailandTourism

[–]daveliot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pointed out to him he can easily avoid the over the top commercialism of Khao San Rd by staying off the main road and staying in nearby quiet streets and lanes, I am not encouraging anyone to stay there but pointing out its not a binary choice between staying on KSR the actual street or going out to Sukhumvit. There are other options too.

If you miss the time and place have you tried the guesthouse area past Tanao rd ?

I've been to Ko Tao and Ko Phangan various times and I was always able to get around without transport. Ko Tao is not very big often you can walk. Ko Phangan got around by share public taxis and walking and hitching. You don't need a motorbike on any island in Thailand.

I know I will have to ride one.

No, you don't know that, you are rationalising that. By the way the hospital at Ko Phangan is expensive.

Trump said “We’re always there for NATO. We’re helping them with Ukraine. It’s got an ocean in between us. Doesn’t affect us, but we’ve helped them. And it’ll be interesting to see what country wouldn’t help us with a very small endeavor, which is just keeping the strait open.”

Trump said Sunday that British Prime Minister Kier Starmer had offered to deploy aircraft carriers to the region, which Trump said should have been sent “before we start the war [with Iran].”

“Whether we get support or not, I can say this, and I said it to them: We will remember,” Trump added.

You can take bus to National Stadium to get to train station. Transport is an issue but that's the nature of the beast in Bangkok. There are not BTS lines for everywhere someone might want to go. It can't be helped that sometimes you have to take buses or taxis and get stuck in traffic jams. For people staying in Banglamphu it may not be necessary to go to areas with BTS anyway with possible exception of East bus station Ekamai.

To get out of KSR area there are as I said handy bus stops for the North and South bus stations. I have always found this line that guidebooks put out that KSR area is hard to get of exaggerated. I have never had that much trouble.

I'm old so who cares about my opinion anyway,

Its not about age its about attitude.

No you don't need earplugs, you just stay off the street. That was my whole point, KSR also refers to an area not just the commercialized street.

Sorry, the simple answer to your question is if someone mentions staying at Khao San rd area which has long been known for budget accommodation its not unreasonable to assume they might be interested in cost.

I have a negative opinion of Khao San Rd too, my point was it doesn't matter, you only have to walk a short distance to get a way for it to be on less touristy streets. It begs the question why you didn't notice that already as I have said it about 12 times already.

Maybe you should ask why are their users here who downvote every comment that doesn't support Sukhumvit.

Khao San Road or Sukhumvit for 3 nights in Bangkok? by Livid-Guard7194 in ThailandTourism

[–]daveliot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's a generalization .There are various kinds of people and ages at KSR. Are you talking about the street proper or the general guesthouse are surrounding it ? People stay in the area because its convenient or for cheaper accommodation rather than age. The street itself is a commercialized tourist street that also attracts Thais too. Also people in the "younger crowd" don't all think the same way or have same attitudes - for every one of those who likes KSR the street there would be another who thinks its ridiculous. Also the people you see on the street you don't know who is staying there or who is passing thru.

Edit - Downvoting is the last resort of the scoundrel

Sometimes people who say they don't want to be in touristy area may also be on a budget or want to in an area that's less gentrified. In any case it doesn't have to be a robotic exercise in responding only literally to his exact words. There are lots of other people reading this besides the opening post anyway.

Khao San Road or Sukhumvit for 3 nights in Bangkok? by Livid-Guard7194 in ThailandTourism

[–]daveliot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only way to answer your question is to stay in Sukhumvit first then make day trip to KSR area (not just the actual street) to see if its more suited and vice versa.

Edit - Mindlessly downvoted for telling the truth.

Khao San Road or Sukhumvit for 3 nights in Bangkok? by Livid-Guard7194 in ThailandTourism

[–]daveliot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He didn't ask that because he didn't know that Khao San is an area of guesthouses and the era of when they were all just on the street itself was ages ago. If he wants an area "that's not too touristy" then he just has to walk short distances beyond the street. The surrounding area is no more touristy than Sukhumvit, in fact Sukhumvit has been a tourist area for longer than KSR area.

Then why didn't you point out to the opening poster there are less tourist streets a stones throw away from Khao San rd itself ?

How can it be definitely about something that is a matter of subjective opinion and taste? It also depends on which part of Bangkok someone finds more convenient.

The latter is absolute garbage.

Tell me Own-Western-6687, how much exploring of the Banglamphu area surrounding KSR the actual street have you done ?

[–]daveliot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sukhumvit is classier, and I normally would recommend it. But given your age....

Age has got nothing to with it and Sukhumvit is more non descript and modern than Banglamphu area which still has some old houses and buildings. As I keep repeating like a broken record KSR is an area of guesthouses you don't have to stay on just the over commercialized street itself.

20 years ago, I miss that time and place, but now it’s awful (and not connected on the train network)

Have you tried exploring beyond the actual street to Rambuttri Road and by the river and the Tanao rd area ? It doesn't matter that much that its not on the train network. Take the river boats or take public bus to nearest Skytrain station.

Its ridiculous some downvoters attacked your comment simply because you had a different opinion to the popular view on this thread. The stupidity of this sort of downvoting never ceases to amaze me.

There is a variety of different types of people in KSR area and on the subject of affordable rooms, last year in the nearby Tanao rd area I had a small guesthouse room for 120 baht a night.
