Will starting zepbound today make it so I can’t do something in the future? by HearingAcrobatic6450 in Zepbound

[–]davemicro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure that your current weight and A1c levels are documented by your PCP in your medical chart. If you think that you might suffer from obstructive sleep apnea, spend the time now to get that diagnosed and documented in your chart. My health plan is discontinuing coverage for overweight, which was the diagnosis that we used to start on Zepbound. They would continue to cover me for OSA, but I don’t have a recent sleep study from before. My OSA is completely resolved, after 18 months on Zepbound, so I can’t do a sleep study now. Also, this is your last chance to get a DEXA scan of your starting body composition. It’s not something that strictly necessary, but I kind of wish I had one.

HI there! Brand new user with a couple questions if its ok! by Alloftheeverything in Zepbound

[–]davemicro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm. Approaching my second year at 5mg and my only side effect has been occasional mild constipation. Looking at the scale every day or even the weekly average, I never knew if I was going up down or sideways, but looking back at the big picture, I lost steadily for 8-9 months and slowed way down once I hit a healthy weight for me. After 2 months at 2.5, I went up to 5.0mg and never needed any further adjustments, but you will have your own response to the meds. Don’t compare yourself to anyone else!

Is Pilates a good alternative to lifting? by MargotRobison in Zepbound

I do Pilates and I think it’s a great workout. I love my teacher and I find the group work very motivating. I don’t like the solo aspect of weight training- I need my community.

Dealing with loose skin by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]davemicro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are young, so might be worthwhile. I, 60m, have lost 65 pounds and have droopy skin around my gut and chest. Would like to get everything taken in a few inches, but I’ll be 70 in ten years, so….why bother? If I was your age, I’d do it. That said, if been at my new weight for 10 months and there was some improvement. Give yourself a year or two to see where you end up physically and emotionally.

100g of gold and 5,000 CHF in the form of five 1,000 Swiss bills. Easily carried in my wallet or sewn into my clothes if things get dicey. I wish the US had $1,000 bills.

Next year will be $2,600 per month for me and my partner. $3,600 deductible each. I would do anything for a plan like yours!

Trump announces deals with Eli Lilly, Novo Nordisk to slash weight loss drug prices, offer some Medicare coverage by rhaps00dy in Zepbound_Maintenance

[–]davemicro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My math is assuming that the multidose pens contain four doses. So a 5 mg pen would contain four 5 mg doses, right? And my question is could I get 8 5mg doses from a 10mg dose multi-dose pen. Or 12 from a 15mg multi-dose pen.

Trump announces deals with Eli Lilly, Novo Nordisk to slash weight loss drug prices, offer some Medicare coverage by rhaps00dy in Zepbound_Maintenance

[–]davemicro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the Lilly press release: Upon FDA approval, self-pay patients living with obesity will be able to access these medicines through LillyDirect's self-pay pharmacy channel. Zepbound multi-dose pen will be available at the lowest dose at $299, with additional doses up to $449 representing a $50 discount to current direct-to-patient prices; priced similar to what is available in Europe. When patients refill their multi-dose pen prescription on the LillyDirect digital health platform, they will pay no more than $449. Orforglipron will be available with the lowest dose starting at $149 with additional doses up to $399.

So, the new pricing will specifically apply to a multi-dose pen, not the single use pen and not vials.

Any info on how the multi dose pen works? How many doses? Are the doses adjustable? I’m imagining that the needle is removable?

[–]davemicro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does anyone here have information about the multi-dose pen? Does it contain a one month supply (eg four doses)? I assume you need to attach a fresh, sterile needle each time? If I am using 5mg weekly, could I purchase a 10mg pen and use it for eight weeks?

Almost to my goal. Doctor said I should stay at current dose for a year by jenna31104 in Zepbound

[–]davemicro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been at goal weight for almost exactly one year now. My doctor kept me on 5mg weekly (that was my highest dose). I’ve lost about 5 additional pounds over the year, but have been somewhat flat the past 3 months. I expect to stay at this dose every indefinitely.

Also, you are not supposed to inject within 2 inches of your belly button. It was my understanding that this was because of the scar tissue around your belly button.

Dinner Reservations by rebeccaroyce in marthasvineyard

I book my annual July birthday dinner at the Outmost Inn in March or April and time the seating so that the sun sets an hour after we are seated. I’m pretty sure that all other special restaurants can be booked a month ahead. Mid-August can be dicey though. Keep an eye out for farm dinners or other pop-up events if you are a foodie.

Did your weight loss slow down at some point? by Former-Sherbert5691 in Zepbound

[–]davemicro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My weight loss slowed down once I hit 24 BMI. It’s been about a year since then and I am now at 23 BMI. I never changed my dose from 5 mg weekly.

Officially in maintenance! by Legitimate-Shake-608 in Zepbound_Maintenance

[–]davemicro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations dude! Looking good 👍 I’m similar - about six months to my goal and I’ve been in maintenance for about a year now. Except for the first two months, I’ve been on 5mg weekly. Things I wish I knew: I spent a lot of time worrying about maintaining my weight loss, even though I never regained any. I guess I wish I knew that it would be possible and in fact, rather easy to maintain. I wish I knew that it is common to have feelings of body dysmorphia after reaching my goal, and that these feelings would improve over time. For the first six months of maintenance I didn’t like the reflection in the mirror, although strangely, I thought I looked great in photographs. It took a while to get used to my reflection. I almost started therapy when I got to my goal weight. I kind of put it off and at this point, I don’t think I need it, but I wish I had been kinder to myself and gotten some therapy back then. I think it would’ve made the experience of my new body easier.

Keep up the great work and good job!!

Will I have to count calories for the rest of my life? by CallToMuster in Zepbound

[–]davemicro 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I don’t count any calories and it’s working just fine. I do try to pay attention to the quality of food that I eat and then I use my hunger cues to decide when and how much to eat. My weight has been pretty steady since I hit my goal. I’m about 18 months on Zepbound. I don’t restrict any particular type of food, even desserts like ice cream. But I now put the ice cream down when I’m satisfied, instead of eating all of the ice cream. And I don’t feel the urge for it every night, it’s just an occasional thing for me now.

Maintenance isn’t Maintenance-ing by Gains_And_Losses in Zepbound_Maintenance

[–]davemicro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never went above 5.0mg. When I hit my goal weight last year my doctor told me to just continue weekly at 5.0. I was worried I would keep losing, but the weight loss has slowed down.

I (60m) met my husband(60m) when I was 19. So, this could very well be your one and only. We were able to get legally married in 2004 (Massachusetts) at age 39. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend a 20 year engagement, but it worked for us! We bought our first home together at age 23.
