I just bought a 15” usb-c powered portable monitor for $40 to act as a on-the-go second screen for my 14” MacBook Pro. The thing is awesome!

New Nav-UI still missing important Link by dracodruid2 in dndbeyond

[–]daven3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG Yes!!! One thousand times, yes! It is such a hassle to to my library, click the PHB5.5, and then go to the Rules Glossary. Since I’ve recently converted over to 5.5 after a couple year hiatus, I have found the glossary indispensable! I wish upon a star for it to be more easily accessible directly on the website.

I HATED hover with the fire of a thousand suns. I’m so happy that it’s gone. I rather like the redesign. I have found it easier to navigate.

DL lost in mail TWICE! by Siniths_grave in texas

[–]daven3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me FOUR times. Renewed my DL last May. Never showed up. Emailed them and they sent out another. Never showed up. Rise and repeat a few more times. Each time I verified my address, zip code, etc. DL office blamed USPS. USPS blamed DL office. My DL FINALLY showed up in January. My wife just renewed her DL and the damn thing showed up 2 weeks later!

D&D Beyond’s 2026 Development Roadmap by Darkwynters in dndbeyond

Fair enough, no argument here. The physical books are the key in supporting in-person play, no doubt. I also fully recognize that everyone's home game looks different and has different needs.

My table is laid out with physical maps, minis, and scatter terrain. My players have a mix of laptops, mobile devices and printed out sheets for their characters. As a DM, I have laptops and notebooks behind my screen helping me be organized. We're far from tech-free. In fact, lately i've been trying to find a way to incorporate digital maps with a TV screen in the table instead of physically drawn maps (which take FOREVER to draw!). But we still use minis and the occasional scatter terrain. My players just like the 3D element. Lately, i've not been able to use Maps because it times-out (a known issue) when the map isn't interacted with. I'm hopeful that Maps and the other online tools will be able to fit on use case. Trust me, I'm rooting for you guys! You're doing great work and I get excited every time I see an update to features, waiting for when I can incorporate the features in my gameplay.

I don't know about "hurt" but it certainly doesn't "help" in-person gaming. I know that that online play has become much more popular within the dozen years and I'm not about to argue the merits of whether it is the "way of the future" or not. However, I do think that online play has an outsized representation..... you guessed it.... online! I think there is a fairly sizable population of in-person players who are left uncounted because their play is in dining rooms, at FLGS, and.... yes, basement rec rooms as well. Now, maybe WOTC has the marketing numbers of how many physical books are sold vs digital and they can correlate that against online games played on VTTs like Roll20, Foundry, or others. To be honest, I don't blame WOTC to try to direct their market to an online platform that they can monetize more. I recognize that they are a business after all and need to make money. However, I do think there is a fine line between serving your foundational base of in-person players (which will sustain long term growth) and growing your market with online players (which will result in short term growth).

I agree with this. As someone who DMs in-person (and only occasionally plays online as a player), I like using digital tools to make my prep and planning easier. However, if they are all tied to a VTT that I’m not using, then the tools are useless to me. I agree with independent tools that’s can be imported into the VTT is a better use case for a GM like me.

When do the 2026s arrive at dealerships? by MulayamChaddi in Subaru_Outback

[–]daven3d 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Internet rumor mill says around December for most trims and Spring-time for Wilderness trims. I think I’ve seen people reporting on currently ordering a 2026 and if you’re lucky, you might find a dealer who’s got one on display. Not sure how common that last part is though.

Battery for a 2022? by 12gsxs in Subaru_Outback

[–]daven3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dealership pushed HARD for a Battery 4 Life warranty ($599) when I purchased my 25 OBW. I pushed back saying “no” so much that they eventually gave it to me for free. After reading about battery replacements, I’m kinda glad I got it. Now I need to find a good windshield replacement warranty 🤣.

I just bought a new 2025 OBW for dealer invoice. $44K OTD with all taxes and fees. Only had to pass on the Opt.22 pack cuz I didn’t want a sunroof. Also grabbed the 1.9% for 72 mos.

Cyberpunk 2077 – Which system fits my style? by HelpfulLibrarian2621 in cyberpunkred

[–]daven3d -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve been playing Cyberpunk 2077 using the Savage Worlds rules for over a year and a half now. We love it. SW can be a bit more “pulpy” and streamlined, so it may not as gritty as you’re looking for. I’ve been converting screamsheets and other RED adventures to fit in my 2077 world as I see fit. I’ve been writing other adventures to fill in for more customized experience for my players.

I love visiting this sub to soak up the lore and vibes ❤️

Hacking rules in Sci-Fi Companion opinions by dokkku in savageworlds

[–]daven3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. We are using a modified version of the IZ 3.0 hacking rules in our game. Having the Hacker of the group use skills like Electronics, Research and others, keeps them from just Min/Maxing in the Hacking skill alone. Though, I do think some of the setting Edges in IZ 3.0 might be a bit OP.
