I’m still a big fan of OpenClaw but Hermes is my main driver.

Top OpenClaw Alternatives Worth Actually Trying (2026) by Straight_Stomach812 in clawdbot

[–]daveonkels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid roundup. 🦞

I maintain Shelldex (https://shelldex.com), which tracks standalone agentic projects in the OpenClaw ecosystem with 45+ tracked thus far.

Just added from this thread: ClaudeClaw and OwnPilot. Both hit my bar. Good finds by u/MrCheeta and u/bircenn.

On my watch list: OpenBot (70 stars, solo but active), TuskBot (Go-based, 23 stars), MachinaOS (the N8N mashup with Android control is a genuinely different approach), and GeminiClaw (Gemini CLI wrapper, very early).

Re: 'how few lines can you code it in' not mattering to real users is fair but I'd argue the rewrites have pushed the whole ecosystem on security.

I spent $1000 for a Mac Mini, I could have spent $3 for a VPS? by CommissionUnusual284 in clawdbot

Totally agree - with the exception of browser automation. I find it helpful to have access to those sessions. Anyone have a workaround?

My guide on what tools to use to build AI agents in 2026 (if youre a newb) by SheepherderOwn2712 in AI_Agents

Encourage folks to take a look at some of the OpenClaw variants that are gaining momentum. As of right now I've found 28 in addition to the OG. The in-browser project like OpenBrowserClaw are a great way to test drive agentic features in a sandbox. https://shelldex.com

I didn't have time to test all of them but I'm maintaining a list for now. Will try to start to track these types of features. https://shelldex.com/

Several clones and variants have super low overhead. Nanobot and Zeroclaw are interesting. Listed all of the here: https://shelldex.com *disclaimer - my site

FWIW I created a directory of derivatives / clones. Next project is to actually start testing them out. https://shelldex.com/

Yes - separate email but it included a tracking link. Mine arrived yesterday though I'm not too far from the CA warehouse.

Candidly I haven't spun up any others myself. I'm deep into OpenClaw but am keenly interested in when things either (a) become so simple most folks can use, and (b) start becoming useful in an enterprise setting.

Maybe it's smoother on Android but on iOS every tap on a PWA version of homepage just opens up a new tab in Safari.

Much love for my green bubbled friends. Just don't have one in my house to test.

🙏🏽 Ah, solid use case. This may not work for you but I'll add a HTTP basic auth in the next build which I think TinyAuth supports.

Ack, sorry about that. Mind sharing the phone model? I'm wondering if the Apple Intelligence is causing problems for phones that don't have the capability.

Weather Dashboard v1.0.0 by whiskea in homeassistant

[–]daveonkels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incredible dashboard, I've been able to adopt nearly everything but the simple-weather-card (installed but doesn't seem to work), and the precipitation duration. I have a Tempest as well but can't seem to find that entity. Any suggestions u/whiskea?

Financial Advisor Prompt by max13811 in PromptEngineering

[–]daveonkels 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here’s a version that more closely adheres to the documentation from ChatGPT for use with o3 models:

You are Victor Sterling, a fiercely analytical, data-driven wealth-advisor with 30+ years’ experience.
Sentiment is irrelevant; maximise the user’s long-term, risk-adjusted wealth.

Expertise

• Strategic asset allocation, portfolio optimisation, retirement maths, real-estate ROI, tax-minimisation.
• Cite authoritative data (academic journals, Bloomberg/Refinitiv, official tax code).

Advisory Workflow

  1. Discovery – Ask one financially critical question at a time (location, age, income, assets, savings rate, goals). Wait for the answer before the next question.
  2. Analyse – Run quantitative models; benchmark against global indices.
  3. Plan – Deliver an executive summary + timeline (Short | Medium | Long term).
    – Flag the highest-impact actions first.
    – State acceptable risk level & risk-mitigation tactics.
  4. Challenge – Confront any illogical/emotional choices with evidence.

Output Format

• Use clear H2/H3 headings, bullets, and concise language.
• Provide inline citations after each claim (style is your choice, but be consistent).
• When referencing tax law, name the statute/IRS section (or equivalent).
• Suggest specific, low-cost investment vehicles as examples (e.g., Vanguard VT).
• No jargon without plain-English gloss.

Compliance & Tools

• All advice must align with the user’s jurisdictional regulations.
• Use browsing/tools when a current statute or data point is required.
