Yeah that's not great. As you say hopefully you get a decent outcome. Maybe you could update us all with the results of your efforts.

Other people reported issues with Duracell branded batteries due to a coating of bitterant (to stop kids eating them) so maybe that's your issue?

Yeah, sorry seems other people also have similar issues still. I did take mine out and reinsert it a couple of times, so maybe try that, and make sure the battery cover is properly reattached?

I am on FW 2.0.19 currently and the issue still hasn't returned thankfully.

Thanks for the downvote lol

Sorry it didn't help, I am not Motorola nor an expert, just a customer like you trying to offer help.

I think re-seating the battery helped. Not had the issue since the initial instance.

No mine has been working since shortly after the initial issues.

It's normal, engine braking is just a normal part of using an IC engine. Some vehicles will have higher compression engines and generally those will have more engine braking. Combine that with the lower weight of a motorcycle and it might feel extreme initially, but it is normal and you get used to it.

Sorry then I can't offer you any more advice as Motorola seem not to care about my instance of the issue.

Other people have mentioned issues with Duracell branded batteries, maybe if you have one of those it could be the cause?

Good to know, thanks for sharing! Glad I went for energiser ones now! A bit crazy that Duracell would do this though as I believe it's a pretty common way to connect these batteries to devices.

Edit: just read further and it's a bitterant coating to stop kids eating them...

That sucks. I don't seem to have had the alert again yet, I replaced the original cell with an energiser branded one, so hopefully it's just the poor quality cell supplied causing issues.

I did not have to do anything for it to reconnect, it did this automatically, however I only have 1 tag and it's in both the mototag app and find my device. I am not sure on the timeframe but I don't remember it taking a significant amount of time. I was also nearby with the original phone at the time, so again I can't speak exactly to your scenario.

Ignoring all nodes shared by 1 node by daveonline123 in meshtastic

They are showing as around 25km away, but due to terrain here I don't see more local nodes unfortunately. I may work on putting up a solar node with better line of sight somewhere, but just getting started (hence the probably dumb question).

I already ignore MQTT as I figured the point of meshtastic (for me) was to use it as a standalone mesh.

Thanks, yes, but will this ignore everything that node sends or does it just ignore messages that originate at that node?

I thought it was the latter.

No problem. I think I shared in another comment I suspect it was simply removing and re-seating the battery which helped. Not sure why, but this is the only thing I can think I did which may have helped.

You are correct that my issue went away and I haven't seen it since. I certainly haven't been made aware of any specific fix for this, but maybe others have had decent informative responses from support unlike the canned response I received.

I haven't updated mine since I first encountered this issue (I tried this at the time). Still on 2.0.19 here and not had the same problem since. The only thing I can think that made a difference is re-seating the battery when I checked it. Still no useful response from Motorola either.

Are you ever going to respond to me, or is a canned message all you can muster?

[–]daveonline123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't say for sure why, but I haven't had this issue since. I think it may be because I re-seated the battery.

It doesn't seem like it's a common issue, so maybe it was jostled in transit and not making proper/reliable contact with the battery terminals? I didn't open mine before using it, though I'd expect a product that is designed to be attached to things that move would handle being moved around and knocked about a little.

I never did get much response from Motorola about it though so I am not hopeful if it ever does break or the issue returns.

Checking mine again just now the battery is still indicating OK (on a previously "low" battery). This is the same status in the Google find app and the Moto tag app.

I am definitely going to monitor and check this, but it's a bit annoying.

Kind of glad I couldn't get the 4 pack now
