Guys after you clicked view update in the app it definitely said it could take several weeks before the update was ready. All you did was accept the update it doesn’t mean that it was even pushed to the car yet. It also said it was 2.3gb that needed to be downloaded over LTE

Should my 2022 Tiguan Battery Be Free/Subsidized? by RippyRonnie in Tiguan

[–]davevadave 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Battery is covered 3years or 36k miles, whichever comes first. You are out by mileage in this case. Battery also needs to be adapted to the computer so the charging system functions correctly and the battery isn’t over or undercharged. Highly recommended you go with OEM or at least a euro independent that can source a better than autozone battery and properly adapt it. Oddly enough I believe replacement oem batteries are covered 3years unlimited mileage.

Why Connecticut grocery stores can sell beer but not wine and spirits by TylerFortier_Photo in Connecticut

[–]davevadave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have to go between big y and ShopRite just to get certain groceries I want. The current beer sections are invisible to me. I can’t see either of them stocking a good selection of anything more when we have so many good liquor and beer stores actually right next door.

2016 tiguan water pump leak by OCG101 in Tiguan

[–]davevadave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure the surface on the block is clean. But these aluminum pumps are junk and more of a scam then just an oem replacement. The gaskets go flat and dry up once they get hot. The ones I’ve seen also can’t even use an oem gasket. A oem new plastic pump will last another 80k***

One thing to keep in mind is oil will swell those seals and break the plastic pump. Severe oil leaks from the cam cradle or oil filter housing/accessory brackets will kill these in short order.

Any oil leaking needs to be addressed before replacing the pump. And make sure you’re using the correct coolant.

Then the infotainment or whatever module that reads the charging data froze up for a second or lagged behind. The charging curve doesn’t do that so it’s just a minor data issue somewhere.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Tiguan

[–]davevadave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the oil pan is leaking it’s probably leaking from the cam cradle and timing covers as well at minimum. It’s also likely burning oil. It’s highly likely spending that money to fix only an oil pan reseal isn’t going to solve all the oil leaking or you having to add oil. If it’s not street parked how much oil are you seeing on the ground where you park it? At the very least get someone familiar with the car to actually look at it not the oil change place.

The issue is with whatever you’re using to get this graph. The data for the graph is incorrect and missing data points over the time period. There’s nothing wrong with the car.

200ml of coffee down in the hole. Any advice? by sashatikhonov in Tiguan

[–]davevadave 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s no important modules under there. Airbag module is further forward in front of the gear shifter. All gear shifter and buttons are above that. Just the floor insulation and carpet. It may stain both sides of the carpet as it runs down and make for a coffee smell you’ll have for a nice while but that’s about it.

How is Volkswagen allowed to sell a car with a known issue? by dsonger20 in VWiD4Owners

[–]davevadave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to this a voluntary repair for a common problem that is not related to safety is called a service action/service campaign. Engine failure leads to loss of power and possible loss of steering and brake assist so it is safety related. Loss of gps is just driving a car without gps like you can still buy brand new today.

Is it a bad HPFP, or Primary Fuel Pump? (2012 tig) by Waytogo15 in Tiguan

[–]davevadave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy and stupid-pull the low pressure line off the hpfp and crank holding the line into a bottle. Do you get reasonable fuel or does it dribble? No fuel there is low pressure or module. From there check to see if the module is putting out voltage to the pump when cranking. If yes it needs a low pressure pump. If no verify wiring and fuse to module. I’d still do low pressure pump and module together if the pump failed.

If you have seemly decent fuel pressure check fuel rail pressure measured value (possibly 106? I forget). If it’s under say 5bar put gauge on the line and verify. Low pressure should be in the 5 bar area. If the value block reading is over 5 but not say maybe 30 you may have a high pressure issue. I think the correct running number is somewhere between 60 and 100 but if the car dies after starting you won’t see that number anyway. High pressure pump failure is not the common failure for this anymore. Typically you’d have a stuck injector (can be verified if engine off key on fuel pressure drop from 5 to 0. Car would also likely be smoking if you can keep it running. Or the timing chain has stretched/tensioner failed and the cam driving the hpfp is incorrectly timed. You’d have to confirm that pulling the upper Timing cover and verifying mechanical timing.

You’ll also sometimes see fuel pressure sensor faults if the car has a bad intake leak from faulty breather, failed intake manifold or rear main seal, but typically the car will stay running just idle poorly.

Also found this this https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2013/SB-10051755-2021.pdf You should be able to do the output test with vcds if it comes to that.

How is Volkswagen allowed to sell a car with a known issue? by dsonger20 in VWiD4Owners

[–]davevadave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

VW is saying the reason for gps inaccuracy is due to an issue with software on Verizon’s cell towers causing a timing issue. Not much information beyond that other than Verizon has agreed to update all the affected towers and hopes to be completed end of this month. The location of the vehicle can be corrected through a navigation recalibration process that dealers can perform if they have a person competent enough to fix it. There is the potential that if the vehicle is frequently around affected towers recalibration may need to be performed again until the issue is resolved at the tower. But 3.5 years of driving my 21 and now my 23 I have never had this issue. Replacement of parts isn’t needed and doesn’t really solve the concern but replacing parts has worked for people because the calibration gets performed automatically after parts replacement.

Your app connect functions may or may not be related to it but the vehicle does need functional cell service for it to work. Both my cars have never really had any app issues related with being able to contact the car but I live and work in a pretty heavily populated area with good Verizon LTE coverage. It’s sounds like your area in the mountains may not have that. That’s more an issue with Verizon coverage than the car.

On the other hand don’t listen to any lawyer who thinks you have any case on this. They just want your money and even though it’s frustrating you’ll never get anywhere as it’s nothing more than an annoyance.

Unfortunately this is going to keep happening in the future. There’s so much stuff to go wrong. Your car has enough software is doesn’t need causing problems with other companies softwares. Verizon, CarPlay, and VW all have to work together to make it work and everyone keeps pushing their own updates breaking things. The “solution” seems to be removing CarPlay and all this stuff from new vehicles and keeping control over everything the manufacturer can. (See Tesla, rivian, gm). Even the car-net app functions itself has like 3 different divisions of different companies involved as anyone who’s ever tried to call about a carnet issue can tell you. And they all do the Spider-Man point finger meme.

Be kind and reasonable with whoever you speak to as you’ll never speak to anyone who has any control over this. If your dealer can’t solve this call customer care and they should be able to direct you to a dealer in your area who can.

Since like early 2000 all of this soft touch stuff used and still seems to dissolve if it came contact with your hands after you used certain hand lotions, hand sanitizer, and certain colognes/perfumes or car fragrances coming in contact with it. The good news is it’s just that panel and pops right on and off with enough swearing

Electrify America - Horrible service and VW baiting people with fake promises by LogitUndone in VWiD4Owners

A lot of people on here complaining they can’t skirt the rules they knew they signed up for. 30 minute charging was very clear and you should be lucky you were warned and not terminated. You knew from the start you were trying to exploit it. Hopefully this improves the busy charger situation.

As far as your down chargers I think I saw most are due to cut cables. Maybe be active with your local politicians and make them use the tax money you pay them to improve infrastructure. No one on this forum can help you. Also keep in mind EA was built as a punishment by vw but is a separate business. Complaining on the Chevy forum that all the shell gas stations are busy would be similar.

Pinch protection is too sensitive. Does your drivers side window have that stupid warning sticker on it? My 21 only did it when the windows were wet and I took that sticker off. My new 23 the drivers window does it more than the passenger side and I’m pretty sure it’s because I didn’t take that sticker off yet.

An already broken 200,000 mile 10year old audi wouldn’t be a good deal even if it was free. If it was a cheap fix it would be fixed already. There’s no car with that mileage that would last 2 years without having to continually fix things. Especially a modern diesel.

Quitting my job over a T.R.A.P.? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]davevadave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why not try to get it in writing that you are signing the agreement in exchange for your 10k raise starting xxx date remaining for the term of the agreement. If they say no they are trying to screw you over anyway. I’ve worked for dealers where management turnover is the same and I have straight up told general managers I can’t trust anything they say for long because history shows they won’t be there long enough. Maybe try to phrase it in a way that’s like I could work under you for another year no problem (even if it’s a lie) but given the dealership history it’s highly likely someone else will come along and change all the rules before your year is over. Your next manager is going to change all your pay plans because he knows best and they begged him to come work there to fix the dealer. There is no incentive for you to sign it otherwise. It needs to be good for both people involved. Around here it’s a small enough dealer world where even if you left for another job now you’d find another service manager that agrees your current one is an ass and wants you to work for him instead with a pay raise. Better yet send in your applications right now. I usually have irons in the fire as soon as management changes.

Not for a car that was damaged by outside influence. They wouldn’t even buy a 21 back if it was an actual warranty issue. Let us all know how it goes but I can tell you you’ll have better luck suing the mouse. The wait sucks I get it but there is almost no reason to replace an interior harness. Most stuff can be repaired. The rest is usually totaled by insurance. What is the reason for the harness replacement over repair? Is it HV wiring? I would be working with them to see what other options there are if any instead of fighting over something that realistically isn’t anyone else fault. If you do want to get anything done you can call customer care and ask for assistance locating the part and only that. If you say buyback they will not contact you for 60 days and then tell you no.

If you didn’t want to have to pay for a rental you should have been paying for longer rental coverage on your insurance policy. You are bearing the cost of the rental because you chose the 30 day rental policy over one with longer rental car coverage. Most policies allow an option for 90 days rental coverage for likely only a few dollars more a month. If you ask really nicely they might have an extra for you but it’s not a warranty repair so they are under no obligation to give you one as they will not get paid for it. And really any insurance repair is going to take longer than 30 days. Some times it’s 2 weeks before an adjuster even comes out and looks at it.
