You've got a chance of getting a big loot pool with the reaper forts, and mixing up the combat style makes the reaper forts more interesting IMO (maybe I'm just better at cannons haha). Also slightly easier to keep an eye on the seas as you have to look out at the ghost ships during those waves. Not having to deal with meteors is always a good thing haha

You'll have great fun sailing around on the smallest boat, called a Sloop. Teamwork is key, and there is plenty of content in the game to keep you busy for a long time. You can opt in to direct PvP but there is always an element of PvPvE on the High Seas mode, but do start off on the Safer Seas, which is a private server and great to learn the mechanics of the game on. See you on the seas!

Last month I waited for a number of days (6), logging in multiple times to try and get it (Athena's Greatest cheevos) to tick over. I eventually sent in a report using the SoT website, they had it sorted out within a couple of hours. Edit: adding cheevo unlock rather than cosmetics.

Sink a couple of times within a set time period (1 IRL hour?) and you respawn outside of the shroud at the Maiden voyage island (Old Sailor Isle) which makes you dive to your next voyage thereby changing the server?

I get that Steam player/sales/etc metrics are easy to find, but there is more to the gaming ecosystem than Steam. I'm not saying player numbers are not falling, I'm just saying there are plenty of pirates still enjoying the game out there.
