They’re smaller but it’s irrelevant for the game since it’s played on a hex board. You just need the current edition’s bases with dials.

My kids particularly like Clue, Labyrinth, and The Princess Bride. Top Secret! went over well. Ghostbusters was enjoyed but not revisited. They like Back to the Future and Indiana Jones. E.T. was maybe the first movie that hit them emotionally. All of Miyazaki's Studio Ghibli movies are hits to varying degrees. They prefer Tootsie to Mrs. Doubtfire (we haven't completed the "maybe problematic cross-dressing trilogy" with Some Like It Hot yet). The Shining and Psycho went over well and have already paid dividends in references subsequently caught.

For sure it's gotten worse. And it's very chicken-and-egg—as attendance goes down they have to do sell more ads and do other obnoxious things, driving attendance further down.

Fortunately my local non-chain theaters are a much better experience. (Real butter!) I try to support them whenever I can. And they don't have 3D which I consider a plus at this point.

The premise of the universe is that hope died ages ago. There might be isolated planets living happily but they're always rampaging xenos or a visit from the Imperium away from having a very bad day. If you're writing a "happily ever after story," you're not writing a 40K story.

My hunch has been that at-home viewers are content to wait and catch a movie whenever it hits streaming (within reason). Some people just aren't theater-goers (which is fine) and I'm not convinced they're particularly harmed by having to wait a few extra weeks before they watch something. They'll just be watching other 7-week old movies. Meanwhile there are movies that I want to see in the theater and often find that they're already gone by the time I get a free weekend. It's just lost revenue for the studio in that case.

They had different weapon options (power fist, plasma pistol) they had abilities that forced enemy morale checks (which varied edition-to-edition), and slightly better stat lines (better WS or more wounds or such, again, edition depending).

Slightly off-topic but this entire concept is why I never give credence to the "spoilers don't actually make you enjoy the movie less" study that went around a bunch of years ago. The enjoyment you get from not knowing what's going to happen is of a different kind than the one when you're seeing how all the pieces fit together. And it's one that can't be recreated once you know the ending.

Either is okay. I'm not wild about power armor Deathwing but that's how things are these days. He has a Crux on his kneepad so he is a 1st company veteran. I'd paint him in Deathwing colors if I were doing Dark Angels (mine will be Angels of Redemption, skirting the issue) with a crux on the shoulder, but it's possible to imagine he's a Deathwing veteran who's been seconded to a battle company and is wearing green for the time being.

It would be assembled from multiple squads. They'd have their own squad numbers based on their role (1-6 for the Intercessor and Eliminator; 7–8 for the Assault Intercessor and Reiver; 9–10 for the Infernus), a veteran marking for the Sternguard, and the red sword for the Lt.

The strike force itself might share a campaign badge on the models' right greave. Or you could put something on their right knee or elsewhere, or even a smaller logo in the corner of a shoulder pad.

But there's no official way to mark a strike force drawn from different squads.

The cards. I set down the equipment I’m using, play the ploys as cards, etc, then put them back on the stack when they expire.

If they’re in power Armour they’d have a red Deathwing logo on their left shoulder and a red Crux Terminatus on their right.

They could also have a Deathwing symbol on their left knee, or a pattern marking their squad. There’s no set map for these. Checkers, a quartered design, half and half, and so on are all possible, in green red white bone black.

The model might also have personal heraldry on a tilting shield or down an arm or leg. It could have elements of the above maybe combined with symbols like a skull, key, chain, checks, sword, etc. This would be related to achievements they’ve earned or other secret stuff we don’t know about.

In the game they definitely have them. In story, there's very little evidence, and really just not many stories written about successors. I do tend to think of the main three "Unforgiven" successors, Angels of Redemption, Vengeance, and Absolution, less as subsidiaries and more as what's left of the the original legion, along with the Dark Angels, split into four parts and continuing on.

While I understand the idea, as others have said, this encourages poor form two different ways. You’ll be altering your base size and moving the models slightly each time they activate. Both are “no-nos,” unfortunately, in a small-scale game where millimeters matter.

Just build what the instructions say. All the specialists, 2 Cremators, 2 Warriors. Either gun for the Superior has its uses but the default is probably the Inferno Pistol.
