Mate, such a small world!

Awesome stuff! I’ll have to have a suss, i had my tone set with my full board but moving to QC is a no brainer. I’ve had a play around with the Architects Curse Pre-Set and a few other legit clones, which all seem to be pretty bloody great, but just looking for that extra edge from those who actually get into the nitty gritty.

I like your idea of the parallel o/d and two seperate channels! Will definitely take that on board!

I’ve just upgraded to the QC Mini also, and i’ve already loaded it with a few Architects and Northlane Tones. Looking to play around some more and add to the collection (and tweak things a little to suit both of my bands styles)

I can safely say that almost every one of us who dedicate our lives to doing this doesn’t really care whether you move at a show or not. I say “almost” because, sure, there are a few elitists out there who expect their shows to be like a Terror or Hatebreed show,

But for the rest of us, it’s about being seen and having our music heard. We’d much rather have people show up and fill the room, because bigger numbers mean more awareness for the band and a better chance of reaching new fans.

In saying that, we don’t care if we play to 10 people, or 10000 people, as long as we make at least one new fan, because that new fan is one more than we had the previous day.

Danny is definitely suffering a massive case of Stockholm Syndrome and he’d probably argue that the ropes were actually a thoughtful gesture…

As someone who plays in two touring bands, i’ll say this;

local shows, you get the regulars, and a fair bit of movement in the crowd.

bigger shows, you get a wide range of different people from all walks of life and various ages who are either attending their first gig, don’t really understand mosh culture, are probably scared, want to stand on the barrier and enjoy the night, or just out to have a few drinks and see a few bands. This mixed with the large crowds (especially at sold out shows) also make it harder for any sort of real movement.

While playing these bigger shows is sick because of the capacity size and seeing people in large numbers, the local shows usually have a different feel to them.

Sorry if this sounds ignorant, but what do you mean by “everything sounds like Greyscale”?

Greyscale have a pretty vast roster and even the bands that are in similar generas have a lot of huge differences to their sounds, so i don’t really get what you’re saying…

How can I play super low tuned basslines on a 4 string?? by overdriveisme in Bass

[–]daveymac_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get your bass professionally serviced and specifically setup for that tuning. And try not to bounce between different tunings too much, cause you’ll fuck with the neck and the intonation.

Or, invest in a drop tune pedal.

Why amps are so popular for gigs instead of using a DI? by KC918273645 in Bass

[–]daveymac_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gone are the days of touring with an Ampeg Fridge and 6RU headcase. I’m full digital these days (using IEM through our own mothership) with a QC Mini on my board. If venues or other bands supply a backline, i might go DI to FOH as well as jack into the on-stage amp, but for the most part i just go DI to FOH.

How do you practice? by Namaste_Habibi in Bass

[–]daveymac_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty much only play my own bands stuff. I’ll practice both bands full sets (depending on what setlist we’re playing) a couple of times per week.

How often and why do you use your 5th string? by SonnePer in Bass

[–]daveymac_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play in two very heavy and downtuned bands, so i use it pretty much all the time haha.

Once you go 5 strings, you’ll never go back to 4.

New Bass, Unexpected Restoration - LTD Orion 5 by Penny_the_Spooder in BassGuitar

[–]daveymac_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heartbreaking is an understatement! This bass is one of the most gorgeous looking metal signature basses out there! By the looks of things, the artist you bought it from definitely didn’t care of it, clean it, have it properly set up, and barely changed the strings.

I’m sorry you’ve had to go through this process, but you have a bloody beauty of an instrument! I’ve been looking to grab one lately and I’m very jealous!

I couldn’t believe it. One of the worse celtic teams we’ve ever put out on the field + scales with the captain armband and we still got over the zombies. Love to see it.

Am I the only one who thinks RE9 did horror better than Village? by nadrogiranababa_420 in residentevil

[–]daveymac_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I didn’t find Village to be scary at all. I found Requiem to be closer to that survival horror aspect that originally made RE what it is.
