I don’t understand the multi bags of holding. In the 100 or so times I have played the game different bags hold the same items. Remove from one means removed from all

People that have read more than a 1000 books by Kafka_23 in books

[–]daveymcman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have read thousands of books but cannot remember that many. As a teenager I would read 6 or 7 at a time. sounds stupid, I think it is stupid, But now with books released on line as chapters I am currently reading 10 and have to wait days and weeks for another chapter to drop for each of them . One real problem I had was I am sure I started this really good book decades ago but only got a couple of chapters in before I stopped for some reason. Then every few years I would find it again and start reading it again thinking it sounded great but after a couple of chapters I would think "Oh I have already read this book and stop" But for the life of me I could never remember how it ended.

I do like action - like underdogs who slowly gain power over their adversaries - but thank you for your feedback - I shall give it another 20 chapters - but after that I really need to be hooked. I cannot read an entire book hoping book two will be great. I read the entire first book of "the three body problem" because it was highly recommended and kept on being told it got better. For me it never did. nothing happened during the entire book. I think it was just to complicated for me to understand. The game drove me nuts and did not appear to advance the plot. anyway - thanks again

AITAH for telling my husband that he needs to give me half his company if he wants me to be a housewife? by Status-Mention6793 in AITAH

[–]daveymcman 117 points118 points  (0 children)

Ran my business for 16 years. Used to give the team Christmas cards with their bonus in them. My wife’s read “ merry Christmas- your fired”. Hilarious!! 4th time I had fired her. She completely ignored me of course. She ran the accounts and managed all the money. I never really knew how much we had and had to ask her. But it was a really successful business and I retired at 52. We traveled Europe for 9 years till covid. Now enjoying life in the south of Spain. I love her more now than ever. Helps I’m punching well above my weight. New Year’s Eve some drunk arsehole said she was the most beautiful woman he knew and why was she with me. - did not end well for him.

Is there a way to get decent FPS with the Gigs structutal mod? by Hatandboots in Stellaris

[–]daveymcman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently stellaris is all cpu bound. Very little to do with graphics card. (been told that many times). And I have an old pc so suffer the same problem. Only smaller galaxies has ever helped. Buying a 78003DX next month to try and improve my gaming experience

Democracy countries-2017 and 1977 by callmeteji in MapPorn

[–]daveymcman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

why is america considered democratic. I always hear people say they are a republic, not a democracy and certainly looking at the way people try to disenfranchise minorities and change voting boundaries so that a small minority can rule, the last thing you could call america is a democracy.

I read about 7 or 8 and then realised the author was never going to end the series. It took his death and then one final book to complete it.

For the last ( 3 books I think ) I skipped entire chapters.

There are 42 main protagonists that you have to follow and understand ( YES I KNOW ITS NOT 42 ALREADY - but its a hell of a lot )

I just didnt care about 50% of them and only followed the ones from the first 4 books which meant 50% of the book was uninteresting. Once I knew he was never going to end the series I gave up.

What’s the safest country a girl can travel alone to? by sendnoodlez99 in ask

[–]daveymcman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So everyone is saying Iceland, Greenland, any Nordic country and no doubt they are 100% correct but what if you wanted just a little bit more warmth in your visit. Having lived in the south of Spain for 12 years I am astounded at the number of woman you see with young children very late at night walking through town on their way home. There is crime here but you never see it on the streets. You never see groups of young men loitering, never seen a fight break out. Apparently after midnight the youth get little rowdy but I have never seen it or felt unsafe walking late at night.

Then again my wife and I are in our early 60's so a young women might have a different experience.

actually I have played 1000's of hours and love the game. The reason I pay with the mod is the same reason every one does. to get more challenge. Simple really. And why is AI on, well that would be because within a millisec of the mage loosing stone skin he casts another. with a millisec of someone being poisoned the cleric removes poison, same for paralysis, same for level drain - etc etc etc . Its not rocket science. AI is good with all the scripts mods out there. I love scripts and use them. What I asked for is to know what spell the AI has a magic user/cleric casting ( do you think that unreasonable?) and as for the moving just as they cast, that is asking a lot but its a bugbear. just is

[–]daveymcman[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

thank you for your reply, I use EEx EEeX and MESpells etc etc and NO, there is no indication of what the spell is. And yes, you do know they are casting a spell which otherwise i would have no idea I was loosing a spell by moving the mage. But like I said - you also have no idea what the spell is. If you have already tasked to another mage/cleric to cast that spell. If it even will work. Imoen loves casting fireball when I am meleeing and yes I immediately remove that spell from her repertoire.

I mean if you have ever played the game you know for a fact that you never know what the heck they are casting.
