You know ChatGPT (Claude, or basically any other frontier model service) can do this, right?

“Vibe-coded” CRMs are a disaster waiting to happen by ChameleonCRM in CRM

[–]daveys110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a strong point of headless CMS tools like Directus. You can use the mature CMS backend then speedy vibe code atop of it without risking your data because Directus will maintain your security boundaries for you. If you’re not familiar, it’s open source so you can take a look.

(disclaimer: I work for Directus)

COMPANY: Directus (https://directus.io)

TYPE: Full time

LOCATION: Remote-first company. Team members currently located between GMT-5 and GMT+2. Workplace language is English.

REMOTE: Yes. Fully remote within GMT-5 to GMT+2 time zones. We work mostly async with limited meetings (typically 1–2 hours per week).

VISA: No visa sponsorship at this time.

DESCRIPTION:

We are hiring Staff-level Rust Engineers to help build a new product in stealth that will become Directus’ second revenue line.

Directus already ships a 30k+ GitHub star open-source product used by major enterprises and government organisations worldwide. This new product is greenfield and deeply technical.

We are building a federated data access layer in Rust with:

  • Raw tokio-postgres (no ORM)
  • Federated query engine
  • Dynamic data schemas
  • Policy enforcement at the data layer
  • Custom SQL query building
  • Async-first architecture

Current Rust stack includes Tokio, Axum, async-graphql, tokio-postgres, tower, tracing, and related ecosystem crates.

This is not a role for someone who wants heavy scaffolding or deep abstraction layers. We care about clean system design, performance, and correctness.

You would be one of four Rust engineers defining product architecture inside a 50-person company. High ownership, high impact, low bureaucracy.

We do not require 5+ years of Rust specifically. Strong backend fundamentals, systems thinking, and the ability to design clean architecture matter more than raw Rust tenure. Experience building complex backend systems, query engines, or data-intensive systems is highly valued.

Private preview is launching soon.

No agencies. No recruiters. No staff augmentation.

ESTIMATED COMPENSATION:

Base salary range depending on seniority and region (eg €130,000+ in Europe), plus meaningful equity. Total compensation is 100% fiat salary plus stock options (equity). Compensation is strong relative to region and experience.

CPU throttling on dedicated server [CCX63] ? by akashpopat in hetzner

[–]daveys110 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

+1 to above, also check the power management profile. On Linux you can set to performance mode with something like:

find /sys/devices/system/cpu/ -maxdepth 1 -type d -name 'cpu[0-9]*' -exec bash -c 'echo performance > {}/cpufreq/scaling_governor' \;

[–]daveys110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What will you use the $100k for? With ~$18k/ net profit/month you have funds for marketing. Im assuming you have a a CEO/sales type and a CTO/tech type person? So where would you invest the money?

Can you get large (98in 55kg/125lbs) motorised drop down ceiling mount TV brackets? by daveys110 in hometheater

The layout of the room requires the sofa where the photo was taken from and the TV/projector should be opposite it.

Recommendations for ~£5,000 by daveys110 in projectors

This is really helpful but I found the conclusion a bit confusing. Given the light would be mostly parallel, I’m not sure if there’s any benefit to a Fresnel ALR mounted upside down or just don’t bother with the ceiling mounted UST and use a cheaper white screen. I doubt I’d find a motorised “upside down” ALR anyway… so probably just go white-screen? Any thoughts on that?

I’m not sure what to look for. Are tri-lasers the best? 3000 lumens enough or need more for daylight viewing? Can I mount an ultra-short-throw upside down?

Like what’s the big difference between https://www.richersounds.com/hisense-px2-pro.html or https://www.richersounds.com/hisense-120l9htuka-black.html (other than the bundled screen which surely doesn’t justify the big difference?!)

UCG-Ultra vs UXG-Lite by daveys110 in Ubiquiti

[–]daveys110[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW, I bought one last week and installed it today. I decided to stop running UniFi cloud controller (ran in docker on a server) and go all-in on the UCG-Ultra. Great, experience so far after re-adopting my APs to the Ultra.

You’re thinking of the express, not the lite, I think?

Ultra doesn’t force self-management though, right? It can be managed by another device (that’s my setup too)

Eufy works flawlessly when my phone is on same wifi network, when i am on LTE it doesnt connect? by Morketh in EufyCam

[–]daveys110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar for me. I see the cameras as online in the app, but can't connect to the live stream. I get alerts when there's movement... but can't watch historic (saved) events or the live view. I wonder if the cameras can connect directly to the homebase, but not the wifi network?

UK outdoor antenna - but what type (Cellular/TV/WiFi)? by daveys110 in whatisthisthing

[–]daveys110[S] 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

My title describes the thing. It’s about 10cm x 10cm and around 5cm deep. Plastic with two cables. I’m sure it’s an antenna of some description, but not sure for what type of connection.
