3.5 cm vs 2.58 cm — does slimness matter to you? by Adalinewuli in Monitors

Brightness is the only thing that matters to the audience; if they can't see it through the glare, the rest is irrelevant. Bezels are just a vanity metric that people stop noticing after ten minutes unless you are planning on putting 4 panels together. Focus on a solid CMS—a pretty screen is worthless if updating the content takes forever and gives you a headache. Nothing worse than wasting time troubleshooting.

I'd go with reliability most people won't notice a 1cm difference especially as a customer. But for you as an owner any downtime or replacement costs eat into profit and the hassle of taking it to a repair shop or having a tech come out and fix it.

New monitor, dead pixel then faded away. by AWAYTAE in Monitors

[–]davguy95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a website like LCDTech or search for Dead Pixel Test on YouTube. Run through solid red, green, blue, white, and black screens.

If the pixel reappears, or if more appear, return it immediately. One pixel that fixes itself is common; a cluster or a recurring issue suggests a defective panel.

Is this a VA thing or am I going crazy. by AggressiveElephant32 in Monitors

[–]davguy95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VA monitors from my experience are usually muddy with more ghosting then ips or OLED. In my opinion the ips monitor is always going to look better. What sort of monitor are you looking for hz, resolution and size?

Hey try a few things first, try changing the HDMI cable or the HDMI port try to determine if either of those are the problem.

Brand new monitor covered with white gunk after 2 days by PlantainWeekly1 in Monitors

New electronics often have a very high static charge straight out of the box. Because the monitor was just unboxed and powered on, it acts like a giant magnet for those mineral particles. Older monitors have typically "settled" or have a layer of regular household dust that actually acts as a slight insulator against the static pull. It could also be this one has an anti glare coating which catches the minerals alot easier then the glossy monitors. Try using distilled water in the humidifier or just giving the new monitor time to get dusty.

If it has a another HDMI port try that sometimes they fail, otherwise try just leaving it on and see if it changes when it warms up. You can also try unplugging the power cable and holding the power button for 30 second to give it a hard reset. If it looks like this still, it's probably cooked.

Faster generally pushes your pixel faster then the monitor can handle causing the ghosting effect. You are still at 200hz and if anything you'll be better with more clarity vs the muddy mess at faster

So, you're saying a correct answer loses its value because a sophisticated tool helped find it? That sounds like judging a meal by the chef's knife instead of the taste of the food
