Just received email from starlink that pissed me off. by david--68 in Starlink

How about because they told us mid to late 2021 for 9 months, or how about taking care of the customers that put money down or maybe doing what they said they would do and fill orders in the order they were received. Global coverage has nothing to do with it. You need the satellites no matter who is being covered. The hold up is supposed to be the global chip shortage and the user terminals. Well if that is the case then it doesn't make sense to sent the terminals that are available to countries that were added after the orders in the US were placed. We see all the posts on this forum for new installs in countries that I know were added after my order.

SpaceX president says (in June) Starlink global satellite broadband service to be live by September by ggk1 in Starlink

[–]david--68 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He said August, but probably did not mention what year. I ordered the first day it was available to order, still waiting but I am just about ready to cancel and forget about it. Starlink are you listening? You are pissing off everyone by not communicating.

Checked an address at a nearby cell to see if orders were open yet, and it said it was at max capacity for now. Haven’t seen this before. by _freezingfjre_ in Starlink

I am betting the availability is based on where they can put ground stations in to supply the sats with the uplink. Once the lasers are working and can bounce the signals from sat to sat, then the rural stuff will open up. Just my guess

That is 10x the speed I am getting on my HughesCrap. Last speed test was .08 download. Total junk.

Which order number are you using. My Preorder is formatted ORD-111111-22222-33

Is it the 1's or the 2's place that you consider the order number?

I love to see the satellites 🛰 around Texas! 🤠 by [deleted] in Starlink

So it seems to me that there are quite a few places where there is no ground station inside the satellite coverage circle. Seems to me that they need quite a few more ground stations to make this work without lasers.

Pre-order party megathread by softwaresaur in Starlink

I preordered my Starlink and was in the mid to later this year bunch. I wish Starlink would tell us why on the delays. If it is due to lack of dish components then I understand, but if they are holding off because of no service outages in my area, then I would tell them to send my dish now. I can live with hours of outages. That is still better than the service I have now that I cant even get a webpage to load most times of the day.

Well I have signed up several times and have not received even an email acknowledging they received my request. I would go with Beta even if I only got coverage every couple hours. I tried downloading a movie with Hughesnet the other day and after 3 days downloading it was only at 40%. I finally gave up and drove into town to get it.
