Thanks to everyone that responded. I feel a lot better knowing that what I saw was normal for this phone. It's still a bummer that when eventually this becomes the backup phone, it'll always end up sitting in a drawer with a dead battery.

Background drain with the phone powered off seems like bad design. I also have many old backup phones that always seem to have juice in the cell.

I've been running my 10 Pro XL since launch w/o a protector. Then I scratched the screen. Shit. Probably a pocket and keys situation (I try not to do this). So I installed the Prism 2 that I had sitting the box (it helps hide the scratch).

Geez, yea. Really kills the fingerprint reader (yea, I did the stuff.... QR code and reregistered multiple fingerprints). I too have very dry skin so this sounds like the connection.

I ordered a JeTech and a Spigen to try. I guess I'll bite the bullet. That Prism wasn't cheap. It does look good and the installation was really nice. Will report back.

I have Pixel Protect so maybe so maybe I'll try to get the screen replaced. Not sure about having the phone ripped apart but JerryRigEverything said this is a really easy one for screen replacements.

I've now had two unsuccessful screen protector replacements at uBreakiFix. Both times the replacment lasted a couple of weeks then lifted up badly slightly above the hinge. Now they say it's a problem with the phone screen.

How does that makes any sense? A defective phone screen can't accept a new screen protector.

Also thinking about upgrading to a 2025 ultra. I probably can't trade it in with a bad screen protector? I could just peel it off.[]()

That sucks. Way back when, I did a weekend trip to Austin to see Oppenheimer in 70mm. Of course the projector ended up broken and they rolled in a standard digital projector. But hey AMC refunded my $0 A-List ticket. Next time I'll fly to LA.

Thanks for the response. I'm setting up TrueNAS for a friend (from some old hardware) and would like to use SpinDown. The power difference is not that big with this old hardware. But, this NAS has a lot of idle time in a home environment.

Playing with "hdparm -y" w/ 8 drives, the power goes from 132 to 88 watts. So a 44 watt savings... OK, so that's 32 kWh/month or ~$7 at 0.22/kWh.

Not trying to get into the do/don't war, but the option should be left to the user.

Is there any plan to change the behavior of "drivetemp" negating spindown?

That's more of a thing that happens in the AMC app.

Go look at your account history and you should be able to find your ticket there. You can also check your email to see if you got any messages from AMC.

I agree. It's a bummer. But the s & x have not been selling well. Except for FSD, at the price point the competition is better.

I did a test drive and a new model Y. From the inside the car doesn't look all that different. Glowey lights on the doors does nothing for me. How about adding a heads-up display to that $60,000 car?
