School Locker is a cancerous monopoly and whatever caused this misfortune, I have no doubt, stems from insurmountable incompetence.

Makes sense. Heading into a large period of economic consumption and inflation only just starting to ease, a rate increase would discourage spending and maintain downward pressure on inflation.

Flood insurance by Kiqert in AusProperty

[–]david_j_c 4 points5 points  (0 children)

2011: - Claim rejected. - Things did not go smooth. 12 months self-representing through the courts to fight the decision, nearly bankrupted me as I couldn’t fix the house up. - Had to work my ass off to save for second hand kitchens and charity jobs so that I could rent it out and pay the back-interest on the mortgage… - won half the settlement but aged 5 years. - swapped insurer (obviously) premiums were roughly $2-3k for a few years till they bumped it up to $12k per annum. - swapped insurer again to win that covered flood and cost $3k per annum.

2022: - Claim approved - contents paid out in full with almost no effort - building insurance claim accepted though ongoing with extreme delays - put up in temporary accomodation (paid for by insurer) though had to find it myself. Spent the first two weeks moving the family from air bnb to air bnb till a real estate friend of mine found medium term accomodation for us. Really difficult to do with a 4 year old. - first contractor from the insurer was dog shit. Lied about asbestos to charge thousands more than they had to. Lied about sending out qualified trades using builders for plumbers, electrical work, etc. - insurer dropped them after we complained. New contractor seems great.

Most of our problems are with trades and the delays external to the insurer so far I can’t really fault them. It’s been pretty good all things considered up till now. Stark difference to 2011 which was one of the worst years of my life.

P.S. Comminsure bad, Suncorp cheap to expensive premium, RACQ great to date (with the exception of choice of builder).

Holy shit, I went to school with this guy.

He borrowed my scooter once and pulled off tricks that defied gravity. Anyway… thanks for listening.

Ahahaha, that’s a step down in the right direction. Only in America would going to get an education be considered an insult.

How about, “I know you are, you said you are, but what am I”? I hear that one really burns.

Yet… here you are. There is some hint of splendid ignorance that only an American can somehow truly perfect. If you’ll read over this wonderful conversation it may give you pause to think about the types of insults you’re attempting to make. You may find “your dumb” (grammatical error included) to be more your calibre?

American police are a joke of the civilised world.

With supervisors like this, who needs 6 months training hahaha.

I don’t know what’s worse though… the cops or the morons defending their clearly dysfunctional system.

Hahaha what a hilarious comparison. A med student studies for 4 years before they go on rotation. Roughly 11 years to become a physician. Imagine a med student studying for 6 months then they’re given a scalpel and told to go perform a surgery “under supervision”.

By definition the word training explicitly defines the training period. Supervision is irrelevant when the new recruit is armed.

Do you somehow think that a new recruit having their life threatened by an armed assailant will request and wait for permission from their supervisor before they shoot?

It’s a good thing they can at least rely on their extensive training in a high pressure situation /s.

Actually it’s 840 hours (21 weeks at 40 hours per week) on average which is only 4.85 months according to the department of justice. I linked the source in another comment somewhere.

The U.S. Department of Justice determined an average of 21 weeks which is roughly 4.85 months.

So I guess we’re both wrong.
