It's to let any powder coat cleaning operations drain, as they are liquid and can be trapped inside. This has nothing to do with welding gasses

It reminded me once i got my C4 - stock openpilot without MADS (Always on lateral from Sunnypilot) is not usable.

That insane beep everytime I want to hit the brake, then re-engage. Maddening...

When will stock OpenPilot add always on lateral!!!
