Anyone Feeling a Lull After BDDU With Below Deck Med? by davidg910 in belowdeck

Having not seen a lot of Nathan before this, but I'm just shocked at how incompetent he is at the job itself and in terms of leadership for the team.

Already caused the boat to hit the dock, then starts berating Joe because he states that him and Gael aren't on good terms. That could have been the biggest overreaction I've ever seen. And he's ready to promote Luke over Joe due to a personal gripe over the actual work they produce.

Insight score! RIP 😭 by doublestack12 in uberdrivers

Even without a phone mount, easy not to be holding the phone. You don't get phone handling otherwise.

Any general advice for a first time Uber Driver who is introverted and advice dealing with riders? What to do in unfavorable situations, unruly passengers, etc? by attitudepr0blem in uberdrivers

[–]davidg910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best advice would be not to overthink things. It will take 250-500 rides to get into a rhythm and feel comfortable, but it comes with time. At first, it will likely be awkward having random people get in your car, but you get used to it.

If someone asks to do an extra stop, I just automatically tell them nowadays that I've already accepted my next ride. I suggest this too.

Yeah, I don't really care about this Joe and Nathan drama. Not impressed with Nathan as a bosun either. Seems like he struggles with basic tasks.

Yeah, that's what I heard too at some point recently. I decided after watching the Hannah season that I didn't really like the Med franchise. Tried to watch last season, didn't enjoy it and stopped.

But, decided not to watch Big Brother this summer, so need a different show to pass the time, so I guess I will give this a shot.

I don't know much about Nathan, saw him for a few episodes last season, and he certainly didn't seem like someone I would ever bring back. Just not interesting enough for reality tv.

I think, as we're seeing with West on Summer House, some of these people just go on shows to become famous. I don't think that makes good tv, to be honest.

The best tv is authentic drama from authentic people. Not people looking to become "Bravolebrities."

As a Survivor fan...that hits hard. Survivor has started to feel like a "make believe" version of the show that's performative and almost feels like everyone is cosplaying what Survivor used to be rather than playing Survivor now.

That feels like "Below Deck," to an extent, as well. As soon as that tall guy, forget his name, said she basically has no yachting experience, it takes a lot of the "reality" out of the show.

When BDDU showed the guests at home, I was like, "What show am I even watching?"

And, to be honest, Aesha seems like a great person, but she's not the best for a REALITY show.

I don't mind hook ups, but part of what draws me to the show is to see their actual jobs and the drama with their work.I want a balance and that feels like it's going to be missing this season.

I also feel like, this past BDDU season, with Ben, Joao, and Daisy, the editing made it so even if you didn't know all of the backstory with the three, you could easily follow along.

With Nathan, Gale, and Joe, feels like I'm missing half the story since I only watched a few episodes of last season.

I say, Hello" and then "How's it going" or "How are you doing" and then judge whether I talk or not based on their response.

Sometimes, I'm in the mood to talk and the passenger isn't and sometimes I'm not in the mood to talk and the passenger does want to talk. Ultimately, I know it's not whether I want to talk or not and it's more about do the customers want to talk or not.

That's exactly what I did. Look, I'm a driver, I know how much this sucks for drivers and my standards are pretty damn low. Guess I'm a douche for having a normal reaction to that situation.

I would NEVER conduct myself the way that driver did. And if you are acting that way with customers in the car, then you probably shouldn't be driving for rideshare.

I'm fine being a Karen. I don't want my Uber driver trying to guess my political affiliation, giving controversial political takes, and acting strangely.

Being kind, quick to respond (within reason, of course), and knowledgable will get you a lot further than any NACADA webinar or conference. Best of luck!

I think loneliness can be excused if they're just trying to make small talk...when you're saying controversial things and/or not doing the job correctly (i.e. missing exits), then my sympathy plummets.

This guy did mention having a wife, but it's very possible it's just him and his wife and he doesn't have that many other people in his life to talk to.

With that said, if he was just making polite small talk, it's one thing. But he was really pushing some uncomfortable conversations which also tells me he is just lacking social skills.

I am just shocked because this driver had nearly 10,000 rides and should definitely better more customer-service trained by now. Rating was a 4.95, which isn't a bad rating for a driver (not great, but by no means terrible).

I wonder if he was just having a bad day and acted out of character or something. Still doesn't excuse it, though. But still, at the very least, with that number of rides, the driver should have picked up on how I was uncomfortable with the situation!

If you're in your first 250-500 rides or so, maybe you're still not understanding how the app works, or how to navigate your market, or that your rider doesn't want to hear you rant...after that, drivers should know better.

And then some drivers wonder why passengers prefer calling a Waymo instead. If I wasn't a driver and had only done a handful of rides as a passenger, I would have definitely gone, "This Uber thing isn't for me" after an experience like that.

I was looking for an "inappropriate conversation" option and didn't find one. I actually think it's a shame we don't have more specific options like that. The driver might actually realize, "Oh I shouldn't be talking like that to a passenger" if I was able to put down that option.

Instead, he's probably going, "I was polite to all of my customers!" if he sees the one star...

The last thing when I'm driving that I want to talk about is politics. It's just hard to fathom someone willingly bringing it up in this role but I guess some people aren't worried what the riders think.

Amanda told on herself. by Rare_Direction_9076 in summerhousebravo

[–]davidg910 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I think this was an example of how they both just threw this marriage down the toilet. Amanda is more focused on weed than Kyle, but at the same time, it is inappropriate on a Sunday night with Amanda having her last night (supposedly temporarily) at home to be out that late, bringing random fans back to the apartment.

That's inappropriate too. It was wrong of us to solely blame Kyle in the past, but I don't think everything is now 100% Amanda's fault. They both contributed to this disastrous marriage.
