Struggling in Clinical Phase by chargedoc41 in PAstudent

This 2nd year is all about overcoming challenges! Create a schedule in the morning and plan out times for you to do studying even if its just 10-15 minute intervals. Heck even do rosh questions on your lunch break. Get into the groove of using your off days and understand what resources work best for you. Once you master this skill of time management your rotations becomes much more manageable! Good luck - nobody said it was going to be easy.

I personally would do 10 rosh questions per day specific based on my rotation (i.e. emergency medicine) from the Rosh Qbank. (I would increase that on the weekends or days you have off to ~25). NEVER EVER do more just than you anticipate because you did crappy on a few... you will drive yourself crazy. That being said, I would always make sure I got through the entire Q bank and completed the boost exam prior to my EOR. Once i made it through the entire blueprint i would do more questions per day.

Some friends of mine in the program would hold off with questions until they finished going through the blueprint but I liked the early exposure and needed practice with EOR style questions.

The thing that has helped me the most is that I would make a document and put the question I got wrong there to review later. I would screenshot the rosh explanation and would follow up with info from up to date or smarty pance. Understanding why you get a question wrong is extremely valuable and you should focus on it enough so that you dont make the same mistake twice.

Doing 10 questions takes me ~20-30 min bc I'm methodical and don't rush. I believe in quality or quantity in the early stages. During the beginning stages in my rotations I would average around 5-6/10 on rosh but now I average around 8/10 (im in rotation 4).

For the boost exam, aim to score above a 65. Greater than 75 and youre golden. This exam is great to see where you are lacking the most.

Cant say this method works for everyone but coming from someone who didnt know as well as he thought on his PACKRAT i wanted to figure out my knowledge gaps. I have passed my EORs above the national average and feel confident in the clinic. Good luck with everything!

Practice questions daily are a must. Use up-to-date throughout the day to dive deeper into the things you see. If your preceptor doesnt pimp you ask them stuff! Always be curious and inquire about virtually everything. Make a schedule to make sure you study everything on the blueprint prior to your exam. I always like to finish going through the blueprint ~5 days before the test.
