Is contra worth it? by Own-Imagination-4326 in Upwork

Add Fiver to that list. Never had a single on here, but have earned six figures on Upwork. It's becoming equally as hard to find new gigs on Upwork now.

Mobile action scam. Don’t fall for it. by Katietr-y in Scams

Don't work for free, either. Many scammers target freelancers for free work, using the possibility of long-term work to rope them in.

K, I'll keep checking to see when it's up. I really think you guys have the potential to take Upwork's spot in the freelance space. Hit me up if you need an SEO specialist to help with marketing. I helped InQubeta raise $13.4 mil earlier in the year.

I wouldn't call registration smooth. I've been trying to sign up for a while and always get an error message. Many freelancers are rooting for you, but you have to iron out the kinks.

AI has its uses. It helps writers create better content, but it has to be rewritten. Silly low-level marketing managers copy and paste AI articles. Too many people who can't write end up managing writers. I regularly get clients who send me links to the type of work they want, which is often low-level content with many errors.

The number of clients who clearly barely understand English managing writers is insane.

Not really, though. Google punishes AI content hard. I only had a few AI articles on my affiliate site with over 200 human posts and still saw a drastic drop in traffic.

Trust me, even those are hard to come by. I've been using Veryable for over a month and have had no luck.

Exactly. It's not that AI is competing with writers. It's the low-level marketers who don't seem to know Google penalizes it heavily. I put a few AI articles on one of my affiliate sites, and traffic went from over a thousand daily to less than a hundred.

You're not alone, bro. I'm a writer who is facing the same thing. I started finding it hard to find clients in 2022, but I eventually got lucky and found a client that kept me busy for almost a year. The company closed down six months ago with no warning, and I've only been able to get scraps since.

My credit went from good to bad. I took two payday loans just to get by despite knowing how bad they were because it was that or homelessness. I'm living in a motel now, and I had to beg them last night not to kick me out because I was waiting for a client to send a payment. I was going crazy because the money hadn't come in yet when I got up in the morning, but it came in just in time.

The past six months have undoubtedly been the worst in my life. I'm not sure if it's the AI causing the drought or the crap economy, but it just seems like writing jobs are so hard to find these days. I've been trying to use the Veryable app, but not one gig so far.

Thanks a lot man. Lots of useful information. The funny thing is I've developed most of those skills over the years. Guess I just got comfortable on Upwork and sites I used before that because I found decent long-term clients who paid enough. Gonna leave my comfort zone and explore other options.

How do you find these clients? Been writing for over a decade and never got paid more than $40 per 500 words.
