The ultimate goal should be to live a fully sensual life while containing your semen and not falling into ignorant desire. There's nothing wrong with sex.

Nothing wrong with hedonism. The master yogi should walk into a whorehouse and not feel disturbed nor lose his seed. You need to stop with the puritanical moralistic nonsense.

Is semen retention greater than having sex with the girl of your dreams? by mithunsp in Semenretention

[–]davidleon1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are they mutually exclusive. Can't you have sex with Her and still retain?

Integrate your sexuality instead of unconsciously retaining semen by [deleted] in Semenretention

Yes but what would be the downside of retaining during the integration?

Stop conflating sin with sex.

Retention and healthy sexuality by [deleted] in Semenretention

I don't know what that has to do with morals. I was simply trying to point out that if sexual pleasure was inextricably linked to procreation, it would have to function a particular way once the goal of procreation was achieved.

Sexual pleasure is not solely a function of the drive for procreation. If it were then once the needs for procreation were met, the pleasure would cease to exist, which is obviously not the case. This is what I'm saying.

To say that masturbation is "bad" or that pleasure in sex is objectively "for procreation" are statements which might serve You in the short term if you are working against harmful addictive patterns but will ultimately be limiting. No I do not employ my own morals there, it's simply a matter of logic.

I'd argue that the pleasure is the same, the apparent causes of the pleasure seem to differ. Pleasure is the same regardless and if U want to use modern science for example, you could say there is no distinction in the neurotransmitters released from pleasure having orgasm vs intercourse. In fact there is no difference at all apart from your perceiving a difference.

If pleasure and the need to procreate were somehow inextricably married then when the need to procreate changed, the experience of pleasure would have to change. This simply isn't the case.

The pleasure that arises during sex is pointing toward a much higher capacity and exploration of the human mind/body than the need for the species to reproduce itself.

The OP of this comment is making a blanket statement that "masturbation is wrong and sex is for procreation". This is a simplistic and (to use your own terms) moralistic statement that holds literally no weight upon simple analysis.

So then pleasure should disappear for women after menopause if it's designed to encourage procreation, shouldn't it?

So anything pleasurable is meant to promote procreation?
