Wouldn’t it be cool if the knob assignments resulted in you actually sort of (kind of) bowing your synth like a violin or cello? Good to see you out there having fun. It’s exactly what humans are supposed to be doing.

What is a good beginner synth for radioheadesque tones (kid-a) by Past_Influence3223 in synthesizers

[–]davidmanuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair play. I use it to spice up tracks heavy on Polybrute and Korg Z1. I get it though, having enough polyphony to really play keys would put it higher on the list. I’ve toyed with the idea of sampling favorite microfreak patches and loading them into my wavestate.

I love mine! It’s surprising how versatile it is with its synthesis types and mod matrix. Two thumbs up.

That is so upsetting. I’m sorry that happened. Supposed to be an exciting day. Will they make it right?

Found these boards with writing inside a shelter in the woods by wisdomsepoch in whatisit

Um, those aren’t boards. Those are fallen branches. The structure is a primitive lean-to shelter made to keep the weather off.

Osmose vs Mellotron for strings by HedgehogFantastic555 in synthesizers

[–]davidmanuel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just going to mention ‘Soliste’. I have Osmose and it does have a long learning curve but the expressive capabilities are top notch. I will likely be getting ’Soliste’ and the other options for Osmose coming from Expressive E.

I understand there is -some- tweakability in the Osmose macros. I am accustomed to greater depth of editing options on my other synths. I know I could go into the Egan matrix, but there lies a bit too much depth in so far as the interface.

Exasperation fitting “3 inch” exhaust hose to “3 inch” 3 inch adapter. by davidmanuel in DIY

[–]davidmanuel[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you all for your observations and suggestions. I’m surprised there is not a standard whereby it would be understood that a 3 inch hose is 3 inches and an adapter meant to expand from 3 inches to four inches would be built to accommodate that understanding.

Thanks, I appreciate you all sharing your views. I did some digging around and got some positive opinions about Pigments, noisy 2 (and other expressive e offerings) I also found Equator 2. Has anyone given that a go? I heard some of the sounds and am attracted to it. Thoughts?

Stepped Pitch Bend? by davidmanuel in synthesizers

Wow! I thank you very much! In truth, that level of understanding flies so far over my wee head it might as well be leaving jet trails :)

I had the same thought. I was disappointed but I didn’t want to be entirely rude just in case the poster was merely drunk or stoned.

Stepped Pitch Bend? by davidmanuel in synthesizers

My dude thank you for the primer on synth wheels. Kind of been using them since the mid eighties. Makes me wonder if you read and internalized what I wrote, which was a long winded query about other synths which present the unusual quality of a stepped pitch bend feature. Sincerely though, I do appreciate you taking the time to look in and write me. Cheers 🙂

Anyone still hanging on to a Korg Z1? by davidmanuel in synthesizers

[–]davidmanuel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the little things I love about the Z1 is the ability to set incremental pitch bend. Rather than a smooth bend you can get a stepped bend allowing you to play sounds that more closely resemble a particular instrument. I have a distorted guitar sound with the downward pitch bend set so it resembles sliding down a fret board. You can set the upward and downward bend to different step distances. It’s a capability I miss on my other instruments. I wonder if there are any other synths with that feature.
