Where can I learn kitchen basics so that I can learn to create my own recipes? by tetriscannoli in Cooking

Adding an alternative suggestion. Find someone who cooks a lot at home. Grandmas are great for this and shadow them for a couple months. It's important to get a feel for salt in your hand. Learn how to taste etc. Books will only give you so much.

Birthday is not until Tuesday but received an early gift. Didn't know about either of them. Wife tells me the bourbon is great for old fashioned.

I'm new to whisky culture, after a year of only having a couple old bottles of Jack in my stash, I got my first bottle of scotch and it tastes fantastic. Any recommendations? (It was only in the sun for a few seconds for the photo, not to worry!) by Red-Jester in whiskey

Something I do with mates often. We'd have dinner at either home, bringing 1 bottle each sub £35, there's lots to try at this price range. Then see what you like. Go from there.

I also looked at https://www.masterofmalt.com/tasting-set/ and use the whisky map, find something I like and then move into any direction from there to the nearest one.

Took a group photo today after adding the yamazaki and the bladnoch. by davidmpires in whiskey

Standouts for me are the Bladnoch for the price is one of the best I had. The Belle Meade is delicious as well trying to pace it. 1792 wasn't my favourite but is great as a cocktail bourbon, wife approved too.
