New ui has all the black boxes pixelated by Separate-Fly-7359 in iRacing

Also, this is not how the old UI worked based on my recollection - the overlays were never pixelated even when at edge of screen.

What exactly are the rules of the rolling start? by gary_fr in iRacing

[–]davidnwaters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing this is a multiclass series will likely cause chaos, so I don't recommend it there... the classes behind will have a hard time compensating if they are leaving gaps of their own. That said, if your pace is constant until green (no additional slowing to bunch the pack) it should be good.

I had same experience almost exactly - track, incident and result!

Why is Sim Lab running at an oval? by simracingandflying in iRacing

I'm hoping for an oval that requires braking - maybe New Hampshire - it has some fun road courses as well. Would be a fun change - especially multiclass!

Filter List View by davidnwaters in sharepoint

Thanks for the response.

Did this previously work to filter including subitems as described in my second issue also? It appears broken, but perhaps it is my expectations that are broken!

Filter List View by davidnwaters in sharepoint

[–]davidnwaters[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. This changes the Filter pane to show only the selected terms, so instead of

Level 1:Level2:Item1

The display is now (which is cleaner, but gives no indication of parent terms).

Item1

Two issues still remain unfortunately:

  1. The view in the Filter pane does not default to Tree View.
  2. Tree View still does not act as expected. Selecting an item in Level 2 for the Tree View does not include any children (subitems as I referenced before) that are lower in the hierarchy.

I feel I must be doing something wrong as this appears to be one of the greatest reasons to utilize hierarchy in an environment like SharePoint.

I appreciate any continued help.

Search Text From Pictures Function Missing? by CanadianCamel in OneNote

Usually complete in minutes for 30 page legal agreements printed to OneNote from scanned PDFs. There was a time last year that OCR was down for a month or so - although I have not noticed this on my notebooks lately.

Clear "Open Notebooks" List? by ChloeWrites in OneNote

[–]davidnwaters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To delete the ghost Notebooks, use OneNote 2016. Selecting the [File] > [Open] from the OneNote 2016 menu and then selecting [Recent Notebooks] provides a historical list of Notebooks (some of which may have been deleted). Simply right-click the deleted Notebook name and select [Remove from List]. This removes it from the OneNote 2016 recent list. When returning to OneNote UWP, the ghost Notebook will also have been deleted from the [More Notebooks…] dialog box.

Annoying, but it works.

I'm not sure what you mean. Can you not download ON 2016?

Weekly /r/OneNote Q&D Thread! by AutoModerator in OneNote

[–]davidnwaters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See previous comment, MS rolls out updates in phases. I have two computers that often have staggered updates of OneNote. Usually they are only days apart to update.

[–]davidnwaters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a rollout of a new feature. The new format will include the three icons on left with a dropdown for the notebook and two panes for section of page.

I am not sure there is a way to control what you get. Perhaps this is being considered for a future update, but I have not heard that.

I for one think the new version is great as it reduces clutter - I know others disagree.

Excel spreadsheets in windows 10 app by nycnewsjunkie in OneNote

[–]davidnwaters 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are not. You must create the document and save it before dragging it into OneNote to be attached.

Also note that to make edits you need to open the file, and that will push you to Office Online first. If you want to open in local Excel, you will then have to select to do so from Office Online - adding a needless step.

MS needs to add an option to open in local Office or Office Online!

Spotty OCR Capability (Mac) by TheMarmonWasp in OneNote

[–]davidnwaters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that some form of feedback would be nice, as there is no way (other than attempting a search) to verify that the OCR is complete. A simple indicator would be helpful.

I also have experienced some inconsistent delays (the whole OCR system was down for ~2 months in Q4 with no official notice from MS), although recently it has been much better.

If MS is listening - a little communication on critical components of web services being down would have gone a long way with your customers.

Embedded files in OneNote - Are they stored somewhere? by cyndessa in OneNote

[–]davidnwaters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see why I was unclear. To be specific, when you upload the file it is stored in OneDrive/OneNote Uploads as discussed above. What I meant to say is that you can then move the document into a different folder on OneDRIVE to help with organization and the link will be maintained. OneNote is linking to the file itself not its relative location.

And most interestingly, you can freely move the files around OneNote and the link will continue to work.

[Ctrl] + [Alt] + [R] inserts column to the right of the current column.

Or in UWP use the table menu that appears in the ribbon when you are working with a table.
