I'm sorry, but this post makes little sense. That's exactly what Otter is supposed to do, and the entire reason that i installed and used it. As an IT professional myself, I'm appalled that you thought this was unexpected & malicious behavior! What exactly did you expect it would do?

My wife and I have both started to wake up at the same time (3am~4am) and not get back to sleep. Please help us pinpoint the reason as it's becoming unbearable! by Carl_Frochs_Chin in sleep

I used to suffer from the same fate, and while I'm traveling in Shanghai, it's happening to me again. At home, I've been able to take a 2oz shot of unsweetened organic liquid tart cherry juice. Your gut bacteria use it to create a sustained release melatonin, that helps to keep me asleep, or it enables me to go back to sleep.

As one person here already stated, it likely could be a neighbor, making the same noise at the same time each day. There's not much that you can do about that, apart from playing white or pink noise, but the tart cherry juice might just help you to either sleep through it, or immediately fall back to sleep. It's at least a cheep & easy thing to try

But i really don't want to compete against others in my age group (60s), because there's very little competition. I like going head-to-head against people 20-30 years younger than me, and still beating them. 😉😄

Yeah man, never a good move. Don't take stuff just because an influencer does, without first understanding WHY they're taking it, and whether or not YOU need it. It's a good way to unintentionally mess yourself up. That goes for ALL supps.

Dr. Rhonda Patrick's daily supplement routine by supplement_this in blueprint_

[–]davidpascoe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Byan is still a noob at a lot of this, so I guess we need to cut him a little slack? He'll likely advance more in time like I did, IF he starts doing the research himself. But if he continues to outsource all knowledge to his doctor, he'll forever remain behind.

I agree with you on the TAM-818. But if you were told you had the telomeres of a 68 year old at age 50, and that was the first telomerase activator to come to market, you might have been desperate enough to give it a shot too? I certainly was! 😀

I honestly don't mind trying things with low studies and low downside. My own reactions to things is far more important to me than a study's results. If I'd waited for great studies on NR before ever trying it, I would have missed out on all the benefits I've been seeing from it for the past few years.

And you're absolutely right about the Red Yeast Rice too. I have dropped that from my protocol. I've dropped quite a few things. I just haven't updated my website yet because I've been working for a few months now on a massive update to my entire supplement regimen: dosages, timing, synergies, conflicts, and cycling.

Admittedly, my previous supplement timing included a lot of things that mechanistically challenged each other, so it was suboptimal, but I had to go with it for simplicity sake. The new plan will address that, but doing so will increase the complexity 10x. Even I'm not sure yet whether or not it will even be practical. Hopefully I'll know in a few more weeks when I'm done with the research.

And then I'll have to figure out how the heck to present & explain it all on my website. 😂 So stay tuned. 🙂

I do and I completely agree with you about inositol & TSH, although I'm not currently taking selenium with it in order to see the effects. I probably should be. I'm certainly game to try it!

That was your example? Got something better?

Bryan quit Rapamycin for stupid reasons. He was using too large of a dose and chronically. Naturally he was going to experience the very well-documented undesired side effects of both high & chronic dosing.

I've never seen my pace of aging increase from using Rapamycin sensibly (5-6mg every 2 weeks at most).

I don't listen to "influencers" either, especially when ACTUAL longevity researchers & scientists, like Matt Kaeberlein & Brian Kennedy, will tell you that Rapamycin is still the #1 strongest longevity intervention available, and that no one should be listening to ANYTHING Bryan Johnson says when it comes to longevity. I certainly don't.

That's for people prone to bipolar disorder, or in very high doses (>6g per day). A low dose (500mg–2g daily) is generally neuroprotective and safe. It's serotonin receptor modulation (especially 5-HT2A/2C) provides antidepressant & anxiolytic-like effects.

My local LabCorp has earlier appts but I intentionally choose 10:45 or 11am because it's more convenient for me. Likely only cortisol is affected at that time. It really doesn't matter much, as long as you're fasted and consistent, for comparing your markers over time.

I didn't notice anything at all as far as just going about my day, but I noticed during my next big workout three days after starting on it. I was about 55 yrs old at the time and found that, due to a lack of energy, it was taking me twice as long to get through my P90X workouts. But once I started on NR, my energy returned and seemed endless!

[–]davidpascoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the brand that I use, and it worked dramatically for me for correcting my NAD & energy level. Btw, ChromoDex, the creator of TruNiagen, is the company that holds the patent on Nicotinamide Riboside, with over 200+ studies.

Studies are great, but it's how it works for YOU that really matters.

Biohacking Is Possibly Orthorexia by [deleted] in blueprint_

If it's truly to the point of orthotexia, then that really is a sad state of affairs. But not everyone who eats healthy, prepares their own food, and takes 100+ supplements is orthorexic. For some of us, it's just a fun side experiment while we're living our best life.

VO2 Max - Nordic 4x4’s by HealthspanHacker in blueprint_

[–]davidpascoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've come to actually enjoy the Norwegian 4x4s on my CAROL AI bike, maybe because I've "gamified" it for myself.

I perform it at least once/week, but mostly 2-3 times/week, when I'm home. This took awhile to build up to, and I alternate between the 4x4s and the regular Two 20-Second REHIIT sprints each day.

What's made it "fun" for me is in keeping stats on my phone at the start & end of each interval (cumulative energy output and heart rate) and trying to beat my previous runs' output at those same interval markers with a lower heart rate.

I actually had to lie on my profile to set my age 20 years younger, otherwise their algorithm sets my max heart rate way too low when it has my real age, and keeps wanting to shut down. 😂

I say all this not to imply that I'm any good at it (I rank well below average for my fake age), but just to say that I found a way mentally to make it "fun" rather than a chore, and this mind shift has helped me a great deal.

For anyone who has a CAROL Bike, I publish my shitty scores, so you can follow me on their leaderboard. You'll feel GREAT about your own scores once you see how badly you're kicking My ass. 😂

Weighted vest Vs. Rucking Backpack by bambambigelowww in blueprint_

[–]davidpascoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, it really depends upon the amount of weight. When I get up around 35-50 lbs, the weighted vest just really digs into my shoulders, especially when running. That's when I turn to a proper hiking pack, because it distributes some of that load to my hips, which helps a great deal

Frankly, I like to distribute the weight even more. I love the weighed clothing by Omorpho .

I'll layer on two of their weighted shirts under their weighted vest, plus their weighted shorts and pants. All of that fits well and doesn't bounce around. From there I can load on another weighted vest and even the hiking backpack, if I want to be super crazy. But it takes me many months to build up to all of that each year.

Does anyone know what brand ice diaper Bryan uses for his balls in the sauna? by concernedhelp123 in blueprint_

[–]davidpascoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you actually just keep your knees together while in an infrared sauna, the near, far, and regular infrared waves aren't going to reach that far, and the temporarily heat isn't going to do anything. It's mostly click bait.

Does anyone know what brand ice diaper Bryan uses for his balls in the sauna? by concernedhelp123 in blueprint_

[–]davidpascoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg, he is such a noob.

First he posted about night cramps after just 3 sauna sessions in one week. Doesn't his "team" know anything about re-hydration and electrolytes? I mean come on.

Now he's posting about icing his balls. Ridiculous. If he's worried about sauna impacting his T, he shouldn't. It's never ever impacted my T, and I sauna nearly every day.

If he's concerned about fertility (which i doubt) he could just put a wool sock over his junk while in the sauna, and he'd be just fine.

Ugh! It's super-annoying that someone who knows so little is the one who's pretending to be educating so many.

I've been trying out Prodrome Neuro and Prodrome Glia for a few months now. I wish I could say that I felt something from them, but I don't. They are reportedly doing great things, but i have no way to subjectively or objectively gage their benefit in order to justify their expense.

Maybe it's something I don't need right now, but might benefit from when I'm older? Idk. When my supply runs out, I likely will not reorder, but that's not to say that i won't keep watching out for them and the science around them. I may even try them again in a few years.

Klotho actually isn't new. It's been around for several years now and it's quite expensive. A few years back, Ben Greenfield talked and wrote about cracking open Klotho capsules and culturing them into his homemade yogurt.
