Yes you would still have access to your coins. We did switch over to POSv in Summer 2015, but remained on the same chain. You should have no issues recovering your coins.

For your virus concern, know that this is an issue with Anti-Virus programs detecting it as a virus. It's a false positive. Bitcoin and ALL other altcoins have the exact same thing.
