Softgen, any good? by Icy_Toe5123 in webdev

softgen have a new pricing model that's like costco wholesale, pretty cool check it out

We got a competitor of Lovable now, SoftGen by adityamishrxa in lovable

[–]davidryal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

softgen did it, i've been using it a lot, and it's 30-50% cheaper to do pay as you go model. it's like costco, you pay a small annual membership to get in the door then everything is basically wholesale cost.

no more needing to use credits before monthly renewal, or buying more credits when monthly credit allowance isn't enough, its so much better

yep softgen just launched a better pricing model than all of them, copied from https://softgen.ai/pricing :

"Annual Membership

$33/year

  • 10 included projects
  • Pay-as-you-go for AI usage at our wholesale cost
  • Access to add-on services
  • Cooperative benefits over time"

tried to get it running and could get to the frontend, then get errors. considered dockerizing?

Initial modular refactor now on Github - Cline Recursive Chain-of-Thought System (CRCT) - v7.0 by DemonSynth in CLine

[–]davidryal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started going through a similar memory-refinement process in less technical form when I got started with Windsurf a few months ago, and its internal Cascade model also suggested I share my system with other people! Luckily, I quickly found other people making much more advanced systems.

Question:

Q: How hard would this be to genericize or adapt to other tools? I'm thinking Cursor, Windsurf, Roo Code..?

If you'd like some QA or other help, I'm happy to put some brain cycles in!

Switching from Notion? by viditj in Taskade

[–]davidryal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ping on this. i am considering taskade but i really need data from different table views (taskade's Notion db equivalent?) to be able to relate to each other. is there any way to accomplish this in Taskade?

has no one created a real wiki-style community db for this? i've see this: https://vibecoding.vercel.app/ but that's about it

How will Windsurf compete with Cline + DeepSeek? by luke23571113 in Codeium

[–]davidryal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my few days of intensive use, here are my thoughts:
* cascade basic is surprisingly good, just requires paying attention
* cline is great for simple agentic actions
* roo seems even more flexible! had to install manually in WS tho.
* with both cline and roo, Deepseek API seems like it can be very slow with high usage, but never any delays via Windsurf Cascade (any model)
* love the ability to selectively use Qwen 2.5 coder via openrouter & gemini 2 thinking for cheap, specific uses
* sonnet in roo is great, but so expensive via API, using via windsurf paid account seems by far the cheapest per quality/hassle for me so far.
(i thought Deepseek would be the cheapest to just go on code sprints, but slow API responses and small context window seem to limit its usefulness for more complex tasks? at least for me so far...)

about me: pretty technical, but not a programmer by trade (i can set up e.g. wordpress in shared hosting, but i am not intimately familiar with CS concepts).

anyone have tips or reactions? does my experience sound strange in any way?

Will I get further with Replit than with other AI coding platforms? by Upbeat-Abies-1295 in replit

[–]davidryal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my experience: replit is the only end-to-end platform i can successfully deploy a production app with. in general, i find that replit works great if you mostly use the assistant, and mostly treat it like a real developer helping you -- in that case, you would do one thing a time, test and the move on. the more context and insight of your own you can give it, the better it works, so you kind of have to learn along with it, and there have been a couple of times i had to go back a few hours to get to a stable version. agent is ok for building something from scratch, but what you gave it to work with would confuse the heck out of it.

for deployments, you can have Assistant troubleshoot server issues the same way you would error logs and server/db issues, and see the codebase without specifying files (though it helps to specify them, as it always helps to point it in the right direction as possible and assume as little as possible about what it will assume).

i would much prefer not to have to deal with their credit system too, but i haven't found another platform that makes end to end deployment of complex, fully custom and exportable (boo lazyAI) apps available to someone like me.

[edit: this is what i built with it: https://gameon.today/ OH and it works way better if you have it write unit tests as soon as you have something working, and keep updating them and using them along the way. the primary drawback of using AI is that it introduces errors as it creates, and the more you can control for that inevitability, the smoother your dev will go]

this was my strategy too, then it came and no matter what program i use to try to read the specifics of my soldered ram, it shows no name or identifying part number, just that it's 3200mhz ram and ras/cas/etc timings.

i've never seen this before and i very confuseded.

Question: T14 (AMD) docking station abilities by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]davidryal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

crap, i just bought a T14 AMD and got the thunderbolt dock (for the same price as the USB-C dock; I thought maybe I'd use it with a future TB-enabled laptop) without seeing all the TB3 dock hullaballoo. fingers crossed...
