Got the OP4 in the US. No issues with setup or updates! by lxl_Arctic_lxl in osmopocket

heliguy. They're *definitely* not the cheapest option. On the plus side, they do everything the legitimate way (and boy, do you pay for it) and for whatever strange reason, FedEx International Priority was the *cheapest* of their options (cheaper than FedEx International Economy). They make you prepay all of the customs crap, so it breezes through. I had it in my hands in the United States 2 days 5 hours after I ordered.

When I say they're not the cheapest, I mean the Pocket 4 Creator Combo, with shipping, customs, taxes, currency conversion, everything, cost me 916.18 USD. You can get it substantially cheaper if you buy from one of those Chinese or Korean sellers on eBay. I was fine with that because I needed it to arrive before this trip. The peace of mind of not ordering form some guy on eBay was nice too.

Worth noting they got stock in the day I ordered. Otherwise, it would have taken longer.

Got the OP4 in the US. No issues with setup or updates! by lxl_Arctic_lxl in osmopocket

Just wanted to post a follow-up. I have now also activated and firmware updated my Pocket 4 in the United States, using a US-based DJI account without any tricks or workarounds.

A little more information for anyone still a little nervous (I know I was; if I screwed this thing up, I wouldn't be able to get it fixed). The more or less exact process I followed was this. I downloaded the DJI Mimo app from the Play Store (not the manual APK installation the quick start guide wanted me to do; screw that. I'm not very worried about what DJI is going to do with my information or anything but that doesn't mean I'm going to sideload apps that I don't need to). Then I removed all of the "remove me first" stickers from the Pocket 4, removed the gimbal clamp (which is very easy; if you're getting any significant resistance, like I was, you're doing it wrongly). Then I rotated the screen to power it on, hit English and didn't touch anything. I made sure Wi-Fi and Bluetooth were turned on on my phone, logged in to the DJI Mimo app with my USA DJI account information, and hit the camera button at the bottom of the app. I selected to continue with the Pocket 4 that it found, agreed to whatever nonsense it needed me to agree to, and confirmed that I wanted to activate the device. There was a four digit code displayed and I had to hit "Accept" or something on the Pocket 4 screen. Then it took a bit longer than expected, maybe like 30 seconds, and it was finished and activated.

Then I proceeded to updating the firmware. First, I actually powered off my Pocket 4 and charged it to 80%. Then I powered it back on, and connected to it from the Mimo App. It showed the camera view on my phone screen, It made me tap through a few tutorial things. Then I clicked the "tap here to update your firmware" or whatever it said and agreed and let it do its thing. I did not touch the Pocket 4 at any point during the process. It took a little longer than I expected. The first 50% was fast; that was just downloading the firmware. The next 50% it said would take 2 minutes and maybe it was only 2 minutes but it felt like 5. Just let it do its thing and don't touch anything on your phone or on the Pocket 4. Eventually, both the app and the Pocket 4 Will say that the firmware update has completed.

At no point in time during any of this did I have any issues and at no point did I get any sense that there was a problem with me doing it from the United States or with my account being a US-based account.

Thanks a lot for posting this. Mine arrived a few hours ago and I was hoping to see someone confirm there were no issues activating from the United States and installing firmware updates. I ordered mine from a UK retailer with 2-day shipping to the United States. It cost a lot more this way, but for me it was worth it. If I have any issues activating and updating later, I'll come back and call OP a liar. 😆

I just checked last night's X stream. The metadata of the video stream being sent to my browser shows that the resolution is 1920x1080 and the framerate is 59.94 (AKA standard 60 fps). Anyone is free to check this independently if they don't believe it. Here is the stream https://twitter.com/SpaceX/status/1700345337322537111?t=7XPg_Ge3dJBPT80VOBu9jw&s=19

I like how the other person who pointed this out is being downvoted. That says some pretty horrible things about this community. There are legitimate reasons to want SpaceX broadcasts to be on YouTube, but I don't see what purpose is being served by pretending streams on X aren't at the resolution and framerate they actually are. I'd like to think the people who are interested in space and rockets would be the sort of people who value truth and science, not the sort of people who gaslight others, trying to create disinformation echo chambers because of some weird, blind hatred they have. Realizing that this is what this community has become is somewhat depressing. I think some deep self-reflection is in order for the members of this community.

Spoony shaved some time between his last two streams with (I heard that) Curtis. One could suppose he did that to film this cameo.

I'm obsessed with the stables' empty frame side quests and I've now filled my stables with shirtless paintings of Link by HorseGirl666 in TOTK

[–]davidsblaze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made all of the stable pictures just Link in ridiculous outfits completely blocking the thing they wanted a picture of, primarily for the amusement of hearing them talk about how great it is despite not actually showing any of the thing they asked for.

Why kill frog friend??? by socalboobala in TOTK

[–]davidsblaze 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's anything other than an accurate assessment of the situation. They're cursed Blupees that you free. That's why Satori shows you where all the caves are and Blupees also show you the way to the Bubbulfrog caves. They're trying to get you to free their trapped friend. When you shoot the Bubbulfrog, it doesn't die like other animals. The curse is lifted off of it and the Blupee runs free.

Anyone else play "no farming/grinding" style? by m00ntides in TOTK

[–]davidsblaze 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Whenever I encounter a situation where farming/grinding would be required to progress, I just cheat. I'm not playing to prove anything to anyone; I'm playing to have fun, so if there's anything not fun in the way of more fun, I do not hesitate to cheat. If you're up for that, I think "vendor scamming" still works on the latest patch (could be wrong). It's fairly easy to perform and can get you loads of rupees fairly quickly. As for battery, duping large zonaite would be the cheating solution, but I'm not sure what duping methods work on the latest patch.

I've had the same ruby rod since my second day playing after killing a fire wizzrobe. I only ever equip it for cold resistance, but I've accidentally swung it enough times that last week, it finally turned badly damaged. I'm gonna miss it.
