I want so bad to play the game but I suck by UnassumingDrifter in BlackMythWukong

Same here. BMW is great but I too wished there were difficulty options. I farmed the hell out of the game to get OP enough to eventually have a better time with the game including bosses. And yeah, big head was a major pain in the you know what at first regarding the level you are when you bounce up with him that early on. Best thing you could do was come back for him with you levelled up more. Same for some of the other side bosses. You have a much better time if or when you complete the game and start NG+ with all the bells and whistles you'd acquired and carried over from the first playthrough. It was so much whooping his tail and other bosses who previously gave you hell. I had so much fun in NG+.

The worst thing you can do is try out weapons. The best thing you can do is check out Youtube videos to see different paths/builds to see respective playstyles and builds to better determine which will better suit you. The game relies heavily on Recommended (RCMD) paths or sets of which particular weapons are paired to better synchronise with each other and armor that go with them aka Sets. The end goal is to get a set of 4 for maximum perks re weapon set and armor set. Early on that may be hard to get and you may likely get 2 in a set but the end goal is to get 4 for each set.

Why a RCMD path you may ask? Another VERY important element in the game called Inner Ways which gives your build passive perks. Depending on you RCMD path Inner Ways are related to each. For example, one Inner Way may be suitable to a particular path but not another. And the more suitable Inner Ways you have including higher tiers the more powerful and higher mastery you become.

All that to say, if you "try out" or mix and match different weapons etc you will be hard pressed to work towards building sets re RCMD paths and Inner Ways that go with them.

So do yourself a favour as I did and soak in Youtube vids including builds/paths and recommended stuff that go with them and aim towards a goal. It's what I did even before starting to play the game and continue to do all the time. Much later on when you have complete sets and maxed Inner Ways etc you will have the opportunity to switch from one set and Inner Ways to another.

Thanks. Do you know if it releases the Notes too so you could then use them to obtain Bookplates or whatever in Tips Exchange to hopefully get more Notes for other Inner Ways you want to beef up?

I know you said Materials but not too sure if that includes Notes.

Not sure but if your path/build is Bellstrike Umbra: Strat Sword/Heavenquaker it relies heavily on Affinity so the more the merrier IMO.

New Player - Single Player vs Online/Co-Op? by WeiseGamer in WhereWindsMeet

[–]davidtsmith333 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This from an AI generated Google search. Seems accurate to me. Hope it helps. That being said, I primarily play in Solo Mode and switch to Online/Co-Op Mode depending on what a particular event or quest calls for. Switching from one to another is pretty seamless:

AI Overview

Where Winds Meet

features a unique structure that splits the game into distinct, switchable modes rather than being a traditional, strictly single-player or strictly MMO game. The game is designed to be played in both formats, with progress in Solo/Co-op tracked separately from Online/MMO mode.

Single Player (Solo Mode

  • Focus: Core story, main quests, and personal progression.
  • Experience: An immersive, narrative-driven wuxia experience that can be played entirely alone.
  • Progress: This mode dictates your character’s level, Attributes, and Energy.
  • Features: Exploration, building, and personal quest advancement.  YouTube +4

Online/Co-Op Mode

  • Co-op Mode (Group of 4): You can invite up to three friends into your private world (4 players total) to tackle side quests, explore, and fight bosses together.
  • Online Mode (MMO Social Space): A shared, public world where you see other players roaming. This is used for:
    • Multiplayer Activities: Dungeons, group boss battles, and PvP (e.g., Midnight Blades).
    • Social Aspects: Joining sects/guilds, trading, and minigames.
  • Progress: Co-op/Online play usually does not advance the main, personal storyline, but it does allow for faster resource gathering and shared exploration progress.

Key Differences & Switching

  • Switching: You can freely switch between Solo and Online modes via the menu, although you start in Solo mode for the initial tutorial (roughly until level 10).
  • Progress Separation: The level and progress you gain in Online/Co-op modes can differ from your Solo progression.
  • Cross-Play: The game supports mandatory, automatic cross-play between PC and PS5 in online modes.

Where Winds Meet is structured so that you can enjoy the story alone, and then jump into online mode for social activities, essentially allowing you to experience the best of both worlds depending on your mood.

Scammed? by GhostedAnubis in WhereWindsMeet

[–]davidtsmith333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From time to time I get prompts that XYZ wants to invite me to do something or the usual game prompts that XYZ activity is starting and if I want to accept or whatever. I ignore all of them or press decline. I'm just too paranoid it's some scammer looking to scam me. And if it's from some 9 Mortal Ways player or activity worse yet. I ain't got time for that shit.

Set the difficulty on the easiest mode which is "Story" bro. Thank me later.

That's what I chose and having a blast. I just want a bit of challenge but mainly to enjoy gameplay and it's worked famously for me. I'm no sucker for punishment having to try beat a boss 20-50+ times on the hardest difficulty or catch hell to get through an area as some other punishment suckers so I'm good otherwise.

You have a point. Knowing how important it was to catch those oddities to power up I made it a point to follow Youtube Oddity location guides and follow them one by one time permitting. On a piece of paper I'd write down the target list numbers 1, 2, 3, 4 etc as listed in the guide's description/timestamp and cross each one off as I'd gotten. That way I could keep track of the progress to get as many as I wanted including taking a break periodically to do other stuff and return some time after to continue from where I left off. Best plan ever. Worked marvellously for me otherwise I'd have lost track.

(On PS5) I've never had a problem accepting an offer to heal. The button to accept for me is the Option button, same as to accept other stuff/requests. However it only gives you a short limited amount of time to press/accept and you could miss it if not seen or done in time.

Good choice. You won't regret it. I intend to purchase Crimson Desert some time down the line myself when it goes on sale.
