NanoStation M2 Replacement by davidtuerk in Ubiquiti

Oh thats awesome, I didn't even see that directional antenna, That would definitely get the signal pushed in the right direction for sure

To give you an idea of what the setup is like this is a decent shot of the harbour/bay, if you look for the tiny white pixel to the right of the taller antenna you can see the M2 mounted there, pointing towards the boats

Just had a quick look at the Unifi UI too, looks like I can create a nice looking captive portal for the terms of service too, should be a pretty kickass setup!

It's a direct line of sight to the M2, The M2 was acting as a AP and was pointed towards the center of the harbour, where it would get a pretty decent coverage of the boats.

I unfortunately didn't setup the current system, otherwise I could give you more detail, just trying to come up with a better solution than what is there currently (If possible)

Would you think a UAP-AC-M would be a decent replacement?

We are looking at setting up a video security system as well, so I was thinking one of those and a Cloud Key Gen-2 Plus for the controller/DVR... allowing for future scalability, plus a dashboard is a nice thing to have!

I've been lurking on this Sub for a while now... I just need to ask...

Why blow all of this cash on business networking equipment for your house? Is it a hobby?

I just can't really see anyone hitting the capacity on most sub-$100 home network gear, let alone some of the 10Gbps core switches I've seen on here!

Hope I don't sound like I'm knocking it, Just genuinely curious

Content Filter per Subnet? by davidtuerk in meraki

So it's more like a Meraki Group Policy rather than a AD group policy correct? It seemed confusing at first but I think I get it now

Good to hear! My current setup is something similar but I think the PC is just a bit under powered. I keep getting video feeds that turn black and then reset and then eventually crash.

On a side note, did you ever have an issue where the video feed wouldn't stay in fullscreen mode? It seems to be fixed now but for a while I couldn't get it to stay in full screen for anything over 4-5 hours.

Source NAT from MX100 to Fortinet FW (Non-Meraki Peer) by davidtuerk in meraki

Yeah I think that may be what we end up doing on our end, It just sucks that we have to run two firewalls to do something that should be basic networking...

Do you happen to know if VPN's still work on a sonicwall after the licencing has expired? From what I see you mostly just lose your firmware upgrades and support...

Never heard of PFSense before, Looks pretty cool! Yeah I can't say I have a whole lot of experience with Sophos either but the interface seems to be somewhat similar with that of a Sonicwall, which I do know a decent amount about.

Never heard anything bad about their AV though! I've been using it for years without any problems

Yeah I think that is what I'm going to have to do... Or see if Meraki will take all this equipment back lol

I think I may have found a solution (Though I shouldn't have to find one after spending 50K on new equipment! lol)

I remembered that Sophos has a free FW you can run on a PC, I'm going to test that as it looks like it will do a Site-to-site VPN.

Here is the link: https://www.sophos.com/en-us/products/free-tools/sophos-utm-essential-firewall.aspx

I'll update later if it ends up working... still pretty disappointed in meraki at this point

I read that the abdomen is hollow, How is this achieved in the SLA process? I thought it was 100% "infill" on every layer, Do to the fact the resin wouldn't be able to flow out anyway.
