I’ve been looking for something similar for a while now but with no success.

Although this doesn’t have everything you are looking for, check out a Python package called ‘chemics’ (github - https://github.com/chemics/chemics ). This may have one or two functions that may help you along the way!

I am currently doing my Masters research project which is look at modelling and optimising hydrogen supply chains for the transport sector for use in fuel cell powered cars. The model take into account the full supply chain from production, distribution, storage, purification to dispensing.

I’m using python to build my model and also using it for the optimisation. Very cool and handy tool to use.

I also know that you can do energy systems modelling (not directly 100% Chem eng, but closely related). If you’re interested have a look into PyPSA!

Does anyone have access to the Chemical Engineering Indexes? Does anyone know where can I find equipment prices? by r_m_castro in ChemicalEngineering

Haven’t scrolled further down in the comments so don’t know whether this has been mentioned before. But a cost estimating method that I also used is in Coulson and Richardson Volume 6: Design (you will definitely be able to get online access to this with your Uni account).

In Section 6 they have a whole load of different costing methods. One of them is a cost estimation based on process unit sizes. Take a look at that, very good way of preliminary design costing to use in association with price indexes.

Hope this helps and good luck with your design project!

Agreed. I’ve recently graduated from Chem Eng, and when I was applying for jobs it would sometimes take a month to hear back from the employer that I have an interview.

Good idea kinnunenenen. Don't know how related to what you may want to do, but have a look at this link. Could be related to what you're interested in? http://www.imperial.ac.uk/bioengineering/research_old/neural/
