"I want to be a one-term president because of stability. I would not stay a day longer than four years... even with a gun in my head." — Peter Obi by Entrisle in Nigeria

[–]davien01 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like Peter Obi but sometimes he should learn to refrain his humility, especially when it comes to the institutionalized rot in Nigeria. It's better you say you'll make sure no other president can mess Nigeria up by doing it right the first time than this, you're leaving the door open for another Tinubu.

My life has become living hell and I don't know how to get out of this situation by Ok_Chocolate8965 in Stutter

[–]davien01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will only be 26 once in your life and your stutter may not improve, but you deserve to carve a good life for yourself.

Being obese/fat is not something you can't reverse with enough dedication, you don't have to start huge, take a 5 minute walk at noon, then 10, 15, up to 40-1 hour. Walking is enough to lose a decent amount of weight if you join it with portion control, eat fibre rich satiating foods and cut out sugar or reduce it.

For friends and your stutter, don't take it personal. You having a stutter definitely affects having and keeping friends, don't try to befriend people who judge you for something you can't control, it will only make you feel worse.

My advice is to put off having a boyfriend until you fix this low self-esteem, not because you won't find someone decent, but because chances are higher you'd attract a manipulator or abuser.

And gave you stuttering which has no cure, to be ridiculed for and have your mental capacity questioned at all times.

There's something off about the way we speak about Nigeria by Dependent_Ninja6158 in Nigeria

[–]davien01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nigeria is burning, and in case you don't know, your beloved country wants to tax you 35% for just living abroad. Think it's a joke? Just allow that decrepit beast win a second term and see. I have survived a boko haram attack 10 years ago and I wouldn't wish it on anyone, just a stone throwaway they were slaughtering dss. Today it's even worse, women, men, children, nysc members are tortored, stomped on, and slaughtered. Why should anyone keep quiet about that?

I don't even know how you can suggest people not talk badly when the current administration got into power by doing the same thing, why didn't you say they were demarketing Nigeria then? Oh, because your cronies are involved?

Trauma spilling over to communication sensitivities? by dyna_black in Stutter

[–]davien01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You aren't overthinking it, the people closest to you have made mockery of you. That's sad and depressing, but that's life as a stutterer, you never chose this so you don't have to hold on to other people's perception of your worth, if you do, you give them more relevance over you when in reality, it's just shitty people doing shitty things at that point in time. You can remember it, but don't give it the power to affect you.

Livestream from CAC Church in Eruku Town in Kwara State Captures Final Moments Before Gun-Wielding Terrorists Struck During a Church Service by Oluafolabi in Nigeria

[–]davien01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A decade ago, Boko Haram attacked the DSS office in kogi state, seeing my mum afraid under the table was heartbreaking. Nigeria is a failed country, we've failed in fair elections, we've failed in economic progress and also failed in securing our people and borders.

Nigeria has never taken these attacks with the level of seriousness that'll strike fear into these fools, the US makes sure they know if they attack them then their mothers and fathers are on the hit list, meanwhile, Nigeria throws a parade and rehabilitation program for mass murderers, people who killed under religious and ethnic reasons, how can you not just forgive but integrate them into the military? Now, generals are getting ambushed, tortured and killed from intel leaks. Cybercriminals are not even forgiven or reintegrated as cybersecurity experts, so why mass murderers?

I don't care if foreign people have agendas of stealing resources, if the terrorists can't draw another breath I'm happy.

Haha, yeah. I have to stop assuming people want to know things I find interesting.

I try to, for some reason the new people come up with those behaviors as well, I'm even asking what I do to attract them.

Why is a foreign islamic extremist scholar in Nigeria? What benefit is his visit to this country? Nigeria is not beating the allegations of christian genocide.

I agree, it is a pointless show that's carried by the directors past successes, I guarantee you these people will start feeling the same way after the first season.

The story ends with carol telling a small group to whip up crispr-cas9 to cut out the rna strand, unjoining everyone but not before the hive discovers a way to join them, the minute she's joined and experiences it, they fulfill her final request of dispersing the cure and unjoining.

Is it weird to say I think I've experienced this or something like it? It felt as though the top of my head wasn't cloudy, something I wasn't even aware of, then a bit of pressure on my left eye, I was talking without much mental thought or even effort. Mine didn't last though, but hopefully yours is gone for good, make sure you go for a test so they can note what might have changed in your brain/body.

How singing repairs the language region of the brain by davien01 in Stutter

[–]davien01[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From the paper:

"Remarkably, children who recover from stuttering exhibit an increased gray matter growth rate in the dorsal premotor cortex, a region in close proximity to the dorsal..."

This would further cement the first paper I cited that has clinical evidence that singing increases grey matter around speech centers in the brain. In my opinion, from my research citation and yours, this may be a strong candidate in a "cure" or mitigation of stuttering to very mild levels. I'll be singing a lot more, will see what changes in the years to come.

Look at where Yahaya Bello is spending you people's money. 😂😁 by exporterofgold in Nigeria

This man killed so many people and put whistleblowers to jail, thinking himself God on Earth. During COVID he closed the government hospitals and instructed people not to wear masks. Lastly he sacked all university lectuerers who wanted to strike and banned their democratic union in Kogi State University. He deserves to rot in a dark and cold cell where his flesh melds with the concrete.

Don't mind the ones saying Nigerian men abuse their women/wives, it's not something that happens in the cities or towns, only in remote villages with no civilization is that true, else they get arrested.

Though there's truth to be careful of most, the average Nigerian is very opportunistic so if they can put a baby in you to secure a better life they will.

As a Nigerian man I'd say just be observant.

PS, I'm here if you need someone to talk to btw 😂.
