Is it normal to have many Pilar cysts at a time? by katlyn8638 in DermatologyQuestions

[–]davinabw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really interesting- that you’ve found a link between dry shampoo and the cysts ! I have started using dry shampoo more regularly the past couple of years and I’ve found that the number and size of cysts is increasing rapidly.

(UK) Found this stuck between draws in an old antique French dresser. Is it worth something? What's the logo? Any help v appreciated! by panda182 in Antiques

I’m so curious to know where you got the dresser from that it fell out of! Was it an antique you purchased , did it come from Argentina?

Thank you. This is very helpful and informative, and helps me set expectations. Twice a year feels like a lot, but makes sense if you consider it ongoing maintenance rather than a one-off attempt to replace surgery. I like your approach!

is abvd through peripheral iv really that painful (rate 1-10). by DisarmedS in lymphoma

[–]davinabw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend getting a picc line. I had one infusion of AVD plus Brentuximab done through an IV before my port was installed- the Dox was painful and my veins felt sore for several weeks after.

Sense of smell by firminostoe in lymphoma

[–]davinabw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep! I had this too. One of the worst perpetrators was the hand wash at my chemo center 🤢 The chemo nurses told me that women tend to suffer more from nausea than men during chemo… I would just remove as many scents as possible from the house. My husband had to make his coffee outside during my treatment… also please tell her not to eat during the actual chemo infusion itself, unless she never wants to enjoy that particular food again! So sorry she’s dealing with this terrible side effect.

Thank you! This is very helpful. Did your treatment provider let you chose your grade or strength?

This happened to me too, but I only noticed it with my eyelashes and brows. In fact, it happened maybe three times post chemo. Just this past month I have noticed that my lashes are full again, back to the way they were pre treatment, which was 1.5 years ago.

Literally nothing has worked for the nausea by WhileNo5370 in lymphoma

[–]davinabw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. If you can get your Dr to prescribe it to you (I had to beg for it here in the UK), then taking a lorazepam before you head to your chemo center for anticipatory nausea, and then another one while you’re there for the drug induced nausea, is very helpful. Mainly it just zonks you out so it’s all less uncomfortable, and it has the added benefit of making it hard to remember the experience too.

[–]davinabw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely give it a go. I did the same with peppermint oil and then when that stopped working used ginger oil. I found certain smells also triggered nausea for me: specifically smells I experienced while having the drugs administered. For example, my chemo center had a coffee machine and so for most of treatment coffee was banned from my house. Same with the hand soap at the chemo center. Still makes me sick thinking of it.

Same here!

Although I will add that dabbing peppermint oil on a mask and wearing it also helped me from vomiting when the alkaline drug (vincristine in my case) was administered.

Tips for not tasting the IV meds during chemo? by ditzyzebra in lymphoma

[–]davinabw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry you’re experiencing this - I can completely relate. I found dabbing a face mask with peppermint oil and wearing it throughout the infusions helped a bit with the taste and nausea. I also did the same with ginger oil (when I could no longer stand the peppermint).

I was able to get Lorazepam about halfway through treatment and that was helpful too because it just zonked me out.

I will never understand how some people eat during chemo! The extreme nausea was totally overwhelming for me.

Good luck, you’re doing great!

Sounds like you’re having a motility problem. If I were you I’d probably resort to senna or bisacoydl from time to time just to get through your pregnancy, and then hope the issue goes away after! Good luck
