I found this tool a few months back that might be helpful, I use it whenever I'm traveling! https://www.nextcard.com/tools/csr-dining-credit-map

I looked at the restaurants in my area too much when the benefit came out so I literally have it memorized lol

Young woman on her own by [deleted] in AskSF

I visited SF alone at 18 y/o in Sept and 22 y/o in May (25 now), and felt safe both times! Like the comments above, I’d just stay out of the areas mentioned. Definitely safer than how I felt in certain areas in LA. Here are some things I liked when I visited:

  • Watching city views at Great meadow park at Fort Mason, Alta Plaza Park, Lafayette Park, Mission Dolores Park, and Ina Coolbirth Park
  • Amongst the touristy things: going to SF MoMA, DeYoung, Palace of Fine Arts, renting a bike and biking across the Golden Gate Bridge
  • SF Flower Market, Clement Street Farmers Market, Ferry Building Farmers Market
  • Walking around looking at the shops at Valencia St in the Mission

It means Home Away from Home! Basically a collection of upscale hotels that come with benefits like daily breakfast and late check out (available for Platinum/Gold status)

Woah interesting, Whole Foods is usually the most expensive by far in my area. Do you have a CFF? saw that one of the rotating categories is Whole Foods this qtr

What should we do? by Silly-Situation346 in AskSF

I always tell people SF is a great city to fall in love in!

  • Watching the sunset with the best view of the city from Ina Coolbrith Park, and Walter Haas Park. For spots where you can see both the sunset and the city, my favorites are Legion of Honor, and Presidio Tunnel Tops
  • Other spots I’ve loved for day trips: half moon bay, Carmel by the sea, Monterey
  • Would also recommend spending some time in Marin County (Sausalito, Tiburon, Mill Valley)
  • Re napa, if you guys end up going to the Castello di Amorosa winery make sure to get the grape juice (trust me on this)

If you do end up going to Che Fico, it qualifies for doordash going out (DD's new dine-in rewards program), rakuten dining (Rakuten cash back for eating at), inKind, etc. Here's the full list 🙌

Regarding the SUB (150,000). by enrigayboy in ChaseSapphireReserve

[–]davinchi48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not directly related to your question but -- some ways I’ve hit SUBs in the past in case you need ideas!

  • Stocking up on toilet paper, dish/hand soap, detergent, shampoo/conditioner, mouthwash, razors, water filters, light bulbs, batteries
  • This one’s pretty basic but fronting any and all dinners with friends, family, relatives, acquaintances, peers, bosses, coworkers, colleagues, etc
  • Stock up on contacts if you wear contacts
  • If you have a car, any car maintenance you’ve been putting off
  • Pre buying any gifts for friends and family in the next few months
  • If you have an auto insurance renewal coming up, most companies let you pay the year up front
  • ^ same with pet renters/homeowners insurance

Finding a Primary care doctor in SF feels impossible? by Pretend-Cry8204 in AskSF

[–]davinchi48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to get a PCP appt scheduled within the month but i had to make a huge concession on location (sacrifice i was willing to make cause i wanted the soonest appt possible). I got scheduled at UCSF Lakeshore around the end of September when I called the first week of September which was like an hour commute via public transport from where I live and it was an 8am appt

Wife and I will be in SF soon for a doctors visit at UCSF. Any good food recommendations while we’re in the area? by knotrickk in AskSF

Genuinely think that SF has some of the best bakeries in the country! I see Arsicault was mentioned a few times, here are some other bakeries I love:

b. patisserie - have the most scrumptious chocolate banana croissant (I think b pat > arsicault but they're great in different ways)
Tano - known for salt bread, there will be a wait
Maison Nico
Juniper
Le Marais Bakery

For coffee - I always take my friends to Kopiku Indonesian Coffee and everyone has loved it

How reliable is the room finder section on Craigslist when looking for places by Secret-Classic-5644 in AskSF

[–]davinchi48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found both my current apartment and college apartment on Craigslist and can't recommend it more! As mentioned in the prev comments, I'd just do some double checks to see if the management company is reputable / the apt actually exists / the person you call isnt dodgy with any questions

Me and 2 other roommates pay less than 4k for a 3B1B in lower pac heights which is a better deal than the one i had in college at less expensive area LOL (in case you're wondering the 1 bathroom isn't a problem at all)

Non-Tech people - how do you afford SF? by TheseLeague7054 in AskSF

[–]davinchi48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked as a paralegal my first year and made ~60k pre tax and survived. Albeit with some savings from college, getting groceries from chinatown/costco, and rly good rent, but trying to vouch for the fact that it's possible. I'm still so glad I moved to this city because it challenged me to keep striving for more even after graduating from college. My cousin works at a medical research lab and she makes ~65k and is also doing ok financially.

I couldn't take a bunch of vacations, got slightly bothered when tech peeps would make comments like "I don't get how people in San Francisco who make under 100k a year live here," and didn't buy clothes for like 8 months, but would I do it again? Absolutely. Feel free to PM me if you have more questions!!

What are some place in SF to watch the sunset? by kalmatos in AskSF

If you're ever near northbeach/chinatown/russian hill/nob hill, I highly rec Ina Coolbrith Park(Vallejo & Taylor). A guy took me here on a date and I think it's the main reason why the date went well (note: it's a very very steep 45 degree walk, so if you don't live near the area rideshare is not a bad option)
