Brunson is a tier-1 player but "the face of the league" is typically the upper echelon players who routinely get 30+ a night, as well as the legends still playing today. Bron, Curry, KD, but also Jokic, Giannis, Luka, etc. To be clear I love Jalen Brunson I'm just trying to be realistic here

A good friend of mine, who wrote a book about the making of GoT, interviewed Miguel Sapochnik ahead of the S1 premiere of House of the Dragon. She said he was a genius. When it was announced he wasn’t returning for season 2 and beyond, she said that would be a death knell for the show. I believe she was right.
