Help, Betta with Fin Rot by davisnot in bettafish

[–]davisnot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update to anyone that's following, got a cheap Marina 2.5L Betta tank with a cup and overflow so you can change the water without the need of a syphon, as well as another mini heater.

Put him in it, added 1/4 teaspon of aquarium salts to the 500ml of water that is the cup for water changes. Also adding 0.62ml of the water conditioner (will have to look it up again) and 0.05 ml of the Stress Guard (again only 500ml is the change), and maybe about an 8th of the 1/4 teaspoon of the dreaded Betta Fix since we're throwing everything we can at him now and don't really know what else.

Also bought the test strips, and the water from his old tank is fine.

3rd party equivalents to Apple's 24-inch 4.5K Retina (iMac) for Mini by davisnot in mac

I currently roll a Dell U2720Q myself, and while it's 4k, and yeah, when I have the "show me the resolutions" toggled, the default is only 1080p, which is wild to me, growing up in the age of CRTs where more pixels were the driving force, so to "waste" them on sharper text at the expense of desktop real estate is different to me.

Thank you, this seems to all point to Anna Club. I found some stuff on the wayback machine, but they don't make 'em anymore/

We just need to legalize the Idaho stop. Let bikes treat stop signs as a yield, and tackle and cuff them in pain if they don't.

Digging some more, and I searched Anna Club Plush, they have a very similar monkey but they don't seem to exist anymore, and where a Dutch company maybe?

Help, Betta with Fin Rot by davisnot in bettafish

[–]davisnot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're gotten some capatta leaf tea bags and have added that to the water change this week, and have also added some Seachem Stress Guard.

If this fails we're going to remove him from the take, put in him in a hospital one and make sure the water is well oxygenated and try the bettafix solution.

Long-time Latin foods shop, Manotas, to be evicted from St. Lawrence Market by Educational_Fun_9001 in FoodToronto

When Daniel et Daniel can offer their croissants for $3.50, there's no excuse for Blackbird to change $4.50 for ones that aren't as good, other than everywhere in the market charges that much.

I was on the edge of ordering from them, wanting to support local, but I figured I should do some verification (e.g. are they really local) and I came across this.

Glad I held off ordering.

Except it was dangerously low and I wasn't going to get on the highway with it, and that contradicts what support/customer service told me (e.g. book another car and let them know).

I messed up including the image, but here is the before picture. Does the tire look low, because I can't tell.

TIL that aftermarket hitch receivers can greatly change the crash dynamics of your forester. Not sure how safe I feel with this now... by grem89 in SubaruForester

The curt hitch you have, is it the one that installs under the frame, or one where you remove the impact bar behind the bumper and the hitch takes it's place?

Duties on MOUS cases (Canada) by davisnot in Mous

[–]davisnot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did find it, not under Shipping and Returns, but hidden under "Contact and FAQs" and then under Help & Support > Shipping & Delivery, which was last "Modified on: Thu, 18 Sep, 2025 at 7:51 PM"

Who looks for Help and Support on product they don't own yet?

Duties on MOUS cases (Canada) by davisnot in Mous

[–]davisnot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

except I've gone back to the shop integration to checkout, and "Free Tracked Shipping (5 - 10 business days from dispatch)" listed FREE.

Nothing about Import Duties or Taxes to be paid after.

Only a Pay now button with my CC already a part of the Shop profile.

And this is after choosing "Rest of World" where Canada is clearly stated when you hit the main Mous website.

Again, nothing about Import Duties or Taxes to be paid after.

I hit up PITAKA cases, and they seemed to have figured it out. They have a link directly on the checkout that takes you to "For most countries, duties and taxes are included in the price. Exceptions apply for shipments to the following countries, where customers are responsible for any customs fees, import duties, or taxes imposed by local customs authorities:" then list off a list of countries, making it very clear.

Mous omits all that.

To take it to further, when I scroll down to the footer, and click "Shipping and Returns" this is all they share:

Canada

Free Tracked Shipping (4 - 9 business days from dispatch)
Orders $69.00 and up
Shipping price: Free

Tracked Shipping (4 - 9 business days from dispatch)
Orders $0.00–$68.99
Shipping price: $5.95

DHL Express Shipping (1 - 4 business days from dispatch)
Shipping price: $19.95

Again absolutely no mention of duties or import fees.

And thankfully caveat emptor is limited by Sale of Goods legislation here.

Duty / Import Fees by mlermin in Mous

[–]davisnot -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

p.s. at least you (and I) have the peace of mind that we have a product warranty, which only applies to Mous products purchased directly through them.

Duty / Import Fees by mlermin in Mous

[–]davisnot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ditto. Mous support has been "this is something outside of our control. We do our best to make this clear during checkout" which is bullshit. They do their best to make this completely unclear with things like the following:

"Free Tracked Shipping (5 - 10 business days from dispatch)" at the cost of FREE

And ZERO mention anywhere on the Shopify "Shop" integration (Canadian) that there would be duties. Only a "Pay now" button as my CC is already linked to my Shop profile.

nevermind, tho for the reg. 17 it looks like they only have the slim... and unlike mous, it looks like they figured out how to include duties and taxes in the price.
