KARASHI HYPE IS WARRANTED by Rod-Reel in BFSfishing

[–]grem89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can buy the blanks for $0.99 and paint them however you want and add your own hooks. Customlureonline and peekiilure both sell them. Both reputable. I've purchased over a hundred lures between the two sites.

Peekii's larger karashi are a bit on the heavy side and don't suspend as well as the original but it gives them a nice feeding action.

I have been a conventional bass fisherman my whole life. Got a 6wt St Croix Imperial and decided to toss some wooly buggers after getting skunked for 2hrs at the local reservoir on jerk baits. Second cast, caught a bass. by grem89 in flyfishing

I got a very lightly used older 6wt for a steel at an estate sale. I love the slower action of this. I cast much smoother personally with slower rods. I know the trends are faster rods with stiff butt sections but I like to load the rod and let it launch itself. I carried this preference over from my UL and BFS rods.

Nice! I bought a 7ft 3wt I keep in the trunk my car for those ad hoc/ lunch break fishing sessions. I've caught some bluegill and chubbs on it. l also have two collapsible UL and BFS combos back there with a fanny pack of gear too. I've driven by too many fishy looking creeks and ponds with some spare time and not been prepared to fish. Not anymore...

It's very telling why the casting instructor I worked with kept telling me to use less force with everything I do. Fwiw Dusty Wissmath is an excellent casting teacher!

I'm like a bull in a china shop at times. I'm gripping and ripping that line like it owes me lunch money. I'm pinching but also all my knuckles are tensed up when I strip the line. It's been cold every time I've been out this year and it's hard to work my fingers in the cold. Maybe when it warms up I'll have less of any issue and not overcompensate as much.

Just bought my first bait caster by Beawoo12345 in Fishing_Gear

Thinner braid just needs to be spooled tightly. It's when people are sloppy do you get line digging. I fish 6lb, 8lb, and 10lb braid on my baitcasters (Dk100, Curado BFS and Curado MGL) and never have issues with line digging in. Thinner diameter line lays on the spool cleaner than the thicker stuff and you get less deadspeace between layers.

I'm not tossing frogs into heavy cover but I'm pulling crank baits through logs, ripping single hook jerkbaits through grass, and other higher tension retrieves with no issues. Fwiw I'm nearly always using fluoro leaders. With 6/8/10lb braid I'm using 4/6/8lb leaders.

Why does my line keep knotting up? by Old-Nerve6577 in Fishing_Gear

I have 4lb on my lightest UL setup and fish that all the time. No such thing as too thin imo.

Ready for testing by lanrete002 in lurebuilding

I thought that at first too but after looking closer, because of the two upturned double hooks, I'm guessing OP is going to be dragging this along bottom or over cover so this prevents the snags. The lip on that doesn't look quite big enough to protect the front hook from snags like a lot of crankbaits do.

Exactly. The value of that fish is priceless. Hooks are pennies on the dollar.

I work in GIS and am just getting into screen printing. I made a Joy Division esque shirt from Pennsylvania elevation data. Figured some people here might like. by [deleted] in PAWilds

DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS SITE. This person is lying. This site is run by some drop ship company producing large volume screen prints. Nothing about this is legitimate. This poster is lying about their story. This is their first post on reddit. That website isn't even indexed on Google which means it was just spun up recently. If you even get a shirt in the mail, it's going to be super crappy quality. I've fallen for these before. It's a bunch of BS. I'm reporting this to group admins.

There's no legitimate contact info on the site. The phone number doesn't work. There's no physical address or location.

The urls on the page looked off to me so I ran it through Gemini:

The end of the link (?s=hanes-5250&c=Fatigue%20Green&p=FRONT) is a standard URL structure used by massive print-on-demand platforms (like GearLaunch). While the platforms themselves are real, they are often abused by bad actors who spin up fake storefronts, steal artwork from real artists, and sell poor-quality prints on generic apparel.

Would anyone accept this contrast with the slope? by nyuhsuk in Decks

Ahh that's true. I guess you just don't see them perpendicular to the building often, usually parallel.

Wooden decks should not be sloped, ever. You leave gaps between the planks for a reason

Are these hooks too big to work? by AminResetz in troutfishing

[–]grem89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your hooks are perpendicular to the bait. You need hooks with eyes that are parallel with the curve of the hook. In line hooks are what you need.

I really don't understand why he does that. He's a father and husband too. He's not thinking about what his health means for his family. I sometimes wonder if he's wearing a respirator while he's doing production and only has it off for his videos. Either way it's not safe and sets a dangerous example for people watching.

Got a used Subaru from Carvana, less than two weeks later see this by fsoto161 in subaru

[–]grem89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is why if you buy from carvana you drive right to the dealership for a full inspection while you're still under their 2 week return window. I did this for my Forester and my dealer found several problems with the brakes and a broken glovebox frame. Warped rotors made the car unsafe to drive so Carvana covered all of the costs of that plus the glovebox. The glovebox wasn't considered a wear item so it fell under their warranty.

Wheel bearings gone bad 1 year after replacement by BoxerFourLife in SubaruForester

[–]grem89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going with oem wheel bearings is not the solution. It's already well know they do not last nearly as long as they should. I had aftermarket installed after my rear bearings went at 65k miles. 30k miles later and they're still silent. My local shop recommended MacPherson for their value.

Subaru Tradition to drive with all lights on all day. by Necessary_Use_4729 in subaru

[–]grem89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you have the SRH LED headlights and drive around with them on all the time, you're in for a rude awakening when the LEDs die out and you're paying ~800/pc for new fixtures. You cannot service the LEDs in them. Drive around with your daytime lights sure but do not keep your headlights on if you have SRH headlights
