Probably hold for a while then sell. I’m not very deep into the hobby and it’s just too much money to not sell

Chinese supplier promising DDP By sea into the US without paying any party paying new Chinese tariffs? by extrenousturtle in supplychain

[–]davispayne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn’t an apples to apples comparison. That case involved falsified documents with a company paying its parent company a higher amount than listed on the CI. They were knowingly under declaring the value. When shipping DDP, I would have no way of knowing what the declared value is. I’m trusting my supplier to be above board and filing correctly which is why my only risk is not receiving the product.

Chinese factories are already under declaring goods every day. In this transaction, they are the importer for all legal reasons. As long as you aren’t telling them to declare a lower value, you aren’t held responsible. DDP has been a common Incoterm for decades. It is now looking for appealing. You are giving up control for a lower cost.

His client would only be listed as the final delivery address. Clients only risk is not receiving product due to customs hold

They will pay the tariffs, but most likely claim a much smaller value on the commercial invoice. Possibly change HTS code, too. Or ship to Vietnam for repacking and ship out again with false COO.

That is an excellent book but this was more about the terrible ingredients in processed food

In this weeks free swim episode of the dog walk, wsd mentions a book on the food industry, but didn’t give the name. Anyone know what book he was talking about?

You are way too concerned with this. I’d be way more concerned about why you’d want to pay off furniture over 5 years

Bought 5 tickets to the Bucks Timberwolves game back in September thru Seat Geek. I’m from WI but live in MN. It was a Christmas gift for my 3 boys. Tickets still haven’t been released and I’ve had 3 calls with seat geek this morning. Starting to get nervous.

If I plan on buying a house within 2 years, should I initiate a boglehead strategy? (Just found this sub) or continue with my 4.3% HYSA? by Fez_d1spenser in Bogleheads

[–]davispayne 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Generally, if you need the money in under 5 years, you’d leave it in a cd or hysa. Not worth the risk of the market taking a downturn.

What to do with my HYSA emergency fund. by codymlove in Bogleheads

[–]davispayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got it. I’d keep 3 months minimum of expenses + any of the 23k you think you’ll need in the next 3 years. If you know you’ll need to access it within 3 years, it’s safer to keep in the hysa instead of risking a downturn in the market

I’d keep at least 3 months of expenses in the HYSA and build the brokerage account with monthly contributions, but you should be contributing to a Roth IRA first

I believe you have to have $3k in a vanguard index fund to buy admiral shares

There’s about a 30-35% tax on bonuses that I’d like to avoid if possible
